I have the core foil, its the most stable foil I have ever ridden, fast and stable, great for long rides. I've clocked 27 knots on this setup, I think its pretty decent considering the mast was only 80cm and aluminium, having said that the mast is different from other aluminium mast I've seen, its solid and very stiff. Cant wait to try the race wing with a 95cm mast.

I’m not sure if producing a brick-heavy ugly-looking aluminum horrors or making loud singing foils even counts for others’...

Is it only my impression, or do all the big brands pick the cheapest production methods available? Aluminium masts. Plastic wings. Etc.
Why would that be? Is this simply their design/brand philosophy? Cheapest production for the biggest margins? Do they make similar design choices for the rest of their gear? If not why not?

I'm pretty sure every aluminium mast is the same now. Keeps it real cheap to produce. Mark up is massive. Foils are extortionate for what essentially is now old tech.
When you produce enough cars, prices come down, foils are not following any such trend no matter how similar they are. Naish foil looks like a happy foil for example. Mast looks identical to slingshot foil mast. It seems they are inventing ways to keep prices up rather than get more people into the sport.
Thank God for home made projects that work and cost less than £200 to start on.

Very nice foil. Well designed and executed product. Ride was quite easy and it sure goes fast, perhaps too fast for my taste/skills. It whistles though but I wasn't too disturbed.

The 2017 Core Foil was actually a pretty good compromise between ease of use and performance. You could really change the riding characteristics by changing the rear trim angle. I preferred rear wing back, it got on the foil quicker but the top-end speed was lower. It was lighter than most other aluminium production foils.
The 2018 shape is not that dissimilar. Base plate, mast angle, and wing construction have changed.

Hydrofoil manufacturers come in 3 categories:
1: Those who only make foils (the most experienced)
2 : Those who have them made by others (typically mainstream kite companies who provide the stickers:))
3: Those that offer generic spin offs (the ones with best marketing bullshit).
