I wish they made some smaller sizes like 5m,4m and 3m. I think 6m is too big for highwind hydrofoil. Over 30-35knot I think a 4m would be good on a surfboard. You can always use much shorter lines though. Problem when waves are big there is no wind low down.

Adam is fixed bridle, i.e. no depower. You can make it depower but there is a bit of work involved.

On a 3.5 mtr kite, only used for foiling so in its lower wind range, is a depower bridle required? That is the question.

Yes most definitely. You can use it without, just don't expect much range maybe 5 knots if you are lucky. They don't turn too well on bars either, designed to be flown on handles. It will be a good trainer kite. If you like tinkering, then converting it to depower could be fun and will help you understand foils heaps.

Thanks foilholio, this will be my 5th foil kite, still a bit of an experiment. Still working out whether to run a 5th or use brake lines as a safety. Not possible with larger sizes but on a 3.5 just using the brakes might work

Brake lines as a safety generally don't work with closed cell kites. When you pull heaps on the brakes with an open cell they deflate and go to a ball. With closed cells they still have heaps of pull and often invert and fly like that. I think some Concept Airs have dedicated bridles to flag on the TE. I would think you could make something like that for the Adam and Genesis, because the TE attachments are right on the TE from memory. But a fifth line at the kite center is much simpler.

Just to update everyone I flew the 2019 Genesis 6m today for the first time on my hydrofoil wind was 20 - 25/26 knots, definitely the upper limit of this kite board combo.

Out of the box the kite seemed to fly very well so they must have updated more than the color for 2019 I think. I was using a 4 line gaastra bar with 4 lines of equal length.

Kite hot launched nice and safely and filled quickly in the air. Seemed to be tuned for the smallest bit of backstall when fully sheet in. It does not turn as fast as a small LEI but I didn't expect it to. This slower turn does make it hard turn the power off when looping the kite as it sits in the power zone for a long time and will yank you off the board if you are not braced for it.

The kite has loads of grunt and for the price you pay is astonishing value for money. I didn't crash it so I can't comment of its relaunch. The stability of this kite is definitely its most impressive trait even at the edge of the window pushing hard upwind there was minimal tip tuck, when the tip did eventually tuck the kite just fell back in the window and effortlessly regained its shape.

After finally admitting I was overpowered I said I would go for a quick blast on my twin tip to see what it was like, I noticed here that the aspect ratio does not lend itself any form of efficient upwind riding, was still loads of fun to do small underpowered kite loops. The lift is minimal but that is the trade off for stability.

Overall I think its nearly a better fit for me than the aurora II..the downwind drift means you can just ride at it on the ocean swell and it falls further and further back into the window. Might try the 8m when I've some spare cash! :thumb:

I was on 22m lines, shorter would definitely speed up the turning. Is that an automatic discount? hard to believe that value. I Would like to buy one of their bars, 15m lines and get rid of the chicken loop for a slider, might do it if I grab an 8m :D
