Harness Position

I've started wearing my harness below my ribs instead of on top of it. It seems to help with the squeeze.

Does anyone else do this as well?

I've just very recently got a huge burn from my harness rubbing against my chest, on the left side of my ribs . I've always worn my harness pretty right but these last few days have done some damage .

Should I be loosening my harness a lot more ?

Waist harness should be around your waist (convenient name)

I like to have it as tight as humanly possible to try and stop it riding up.

IDK if this is the generally accepted "correct" method or not.

That what I do.
Breath in and tighten. Repeat until impossible.

I suppose some people may have a bit of a stomach which means their chest circumference is less than their waist circumference.

Waist harness sits in the small of the back with sides just sitting on the bottom rib. I've pushed the harness down 2 or 3 inches so it sits under the ribs and a large proportion of the harness wraps around the pelvic bone. This feels great as most of the squeeze is taken up by the pelvic bone not the abs/stomach as it would normally would. The hook is now much lower than the belly button instead of being behind it as it would normally be.

Im sure the harnesses were not developed to be used this way,seen no one else do it. Would be great though if manufacturers made a "kidney" harness. sits between a seat and waist harness. Has the support of seat but the maneuverability of a waist.

Dakine Chameleon harness. Admittedly, it is more restraining than waist (when used with seat appendix), but it is better than seat harness too; for one thing, spreader bar is at the right height.

I'm pretty sure this is what most people do, but at some point I started keeping it slightly looser (just a bit, still fairly tight overall) so that it's easier to move around. Basically, the harness WILL move up at some point, whether you fall, are body dragging, or just have a lot of power when the kite goes over your head at one point... whatever... and when the harness is tight, it restricts your breathing and makes it more difficult to pull back down. If you're riding with the correct posture, the harness will stay down on its own, so in the times it DOES slide up, it's super easy to just push back down. Just my 2c.
