I agree. In lower winds race foil kites are of course fastest. I tried to think what kind of foil kite could be best for speed records in high winds. I have some ideas but much of it is guesswork.

Why should I try to do that? Speed records on the water are actually quite artificial, only possible at special or even built for places in some special parts of the world.james wrote:go and prove it on the water?
Interesting. I did yesterday one design aimed for speed, a bit smaller though. If wind is +40kn 6m foil kite may be too much, at least on hard surfaces it is.
Ah well much as I wouldn’t presume to comment about how what and why with land based records maybe you could do the same reguards water based ones?kitexpert wrote: ↑Wed Nov 07, 2018 12:37 pmWhy should I try to do that? I much prefer doing high speeds on ice or snow, there is a lot more possibilities to do it and also speeds are considerably higher. Results less than 50kn are hardly worth publishing.
So far most of the highest speeds have been reached with LEI's, including current speed record (57.97kn) on the water.
I am talking in general about characteristics of the kites and particularly criticising the intentional note written by Groesel. I guess he is not authoritity to talk bs about foil kites. Even if he is the North-Duotone Vegas designer.
