Cloud9 foil feedback

Postby Rolavi2 » Sat Oct 06, 2018 11:07 am

Looking for a bigger surf hydrofoil. One that I can kite with and possibly surf wakesurf. I was considering cloud9. They have a foil wing for heavy weight and one for lightweight that may be good for kiting. Realkiteboarding has a review that says they are good for kiting. Any riders out there with feedback on the cloud 9 setup?

I been kiting on the Cloud 9 S24 surf foil exclusivity for the last 6 months. I sold all my other foil gear after getting the Cloud 9.

I’m a surf guy and I feel like switching from a standard foil to a surf foil was like switching from a twintip to a surfboard.

My foiling was get stale on a standard foil. I was pretty much riding toe side the whole time and could not get my flying transitions down.

After the Cloud 9 I’m as good riding regular and switch foot, foiling through all my transitions, and now doing 360s.

Obviously it is also great in waves.

Friend of mine has the Lf Impulse foils. They are the Cloud 9 s24 ( smaller ones) rebranded.
I ride a Moses 633 wing. His was way more stable and less agile than 633, but he had bigger board, and that has huge effect. Also he had stabiliser in rear position. He changed it yesterday and said it was much more agile, but still less than the 633. But it's probably the board.

Have no idea if you can surf on them.

KeNalu is having a sale on their high end carbon surf foils with free global shipping right now. I feel it is my duty to inform a fellow kitefoiler before they buy an aluminum foil that is more expensive. I just ordered the 580/775 combo set for $1222. A complete 580 set is $942. The Cloud 9 foil from Realkiteboarding is $1349.

I ride the Zeeko carbon with carver wing mostly on a mini pocket board. Love this set up for blasting around. Super fast and efficient. I am old and not so nimble so looking for alternative surf wing to help me stay on a wave and a platform to assist with lift thru transitions.

I upgraded to LF Impulse 4 sessions ago after 15 sessions on the LF Rocket. The Impulse is twice as stable, allows to foil very slowly, it's a great platform to progress on. Everything is easier for me with it, except for water start that required 4 sessions to get used to.

I own both Cloud IX wings. I kite and SUP foil with them. I used to ride another brand. The guys who work at Real, ride Cloud IX, not the other brands they sell. This bit of info is what got me to try Cloud IX

Yeah, they are pricey, but worth it, so they get those prices.

High points...

They are silent.
They jibe and carve flawlessly smooth and easy. My old foil felt clumsy by comparison.
My wife’s foiling immediately went next level when she got the S24.
The P27 floats high and dry, even with aluminum mast. S24 floats neutral.
They just released an 81cm mast for kiters.

I would not mess with the LF version. It comes with short mast.

You can just screw the Impulse wings to the Lf fuselage, both the Alu and carbon one.

I have the S24. How does the P27 compare for kiting?
