Hi All,

I recently bought a 6m Genesis 2019..who can resist a $100 kite ???? Came in about two weeks, and I've flown it once. So far, it seems like a great kite even though the wind was so low when I flew it had to run to keep it flying ! Once the rain stops here, I'll get it out again. The price is just amazing....heck I paid more for my little 2 meter trainer kite years ago !

Got one silly question.......instead of the "ELC" that came on my A15, the Genesis came with rings instead. How am I supposed to connect to those ?? I used a larkshead on my fly lines just so I could fly the kite, but I am guessing there is a smarter way to do this? I've never seen rings before. Unless maybe Pansh ran out of ELC on my order and had these rings laying around so shipped it with them instead? Are other folk getting the rings?

You shall use the rings as if they were eight knots : you lock the connection loop of your line just above the knot that acts as a slide stopper.

It is just less prone to tangling compared to eight knots .

Flysurfer moved from ELC to small rings, so... Pansh moved from ELC to small rings.

Sounds like you connected correctly - larks head above the ring, ring is just a stopper in place of a knot.

It is more than that, you can make a loop with it as well.

I like ELCs but rings are still good and Flysurfer uses them now. Would be nice if Pansh sold ELCs separate and the little rings and lots of other things...

Any fishing store has the little solid S/S rings.

So, does anyone else find the leading edge of their Genesis deforming / collapsing quite often?

I have a 6m (2019 version) an it flies pretty well, after tuning. However, multiple times a session I notice the front edge deforming / collapsing (power decreases significantly and the kite drifts deeper into the window). It regains its shape after a few seconds but it is very very irritating.

Second question, has anyone bothered to add leading edge battens on their Genesis? I found that 3 mm 3D printing filament slips in very neatly between the stitching on the leading edge. So my genesis now has battens on each cell. Yet to give it a test flight, but it looks much better on the outside now.

I have the older versions 6m and 12m I used them for snowkiting for the last 2 years dozens of sessions and I am always impressed how rock solid they are in gusty wind nothing will get get these kites out of the sky. Compared to other open cell kites I have owned it's night and day. However the depower is limited and they are slow to initiate turns but for 100$ kites they do the job really well!

I might have been a bit unclear. Yes the kite stays in the sky very reliably, even with gusts.

When I say the leading edge deforms/collapses, the kite does not fall out of the sky, it just stops pulling. When you look up you can see the leading edge (the part infront of the A bridle connection) is flat/collapsed instead of the usual outward shape. It comes right after a few seconds, but by that time you have lost speed and you are in the water. Hoping the leading edge battens will sort it out.
