Format & Competition Rules:
Friday, 24 August 2018 video entries OPEN
Friday, 30 November 2019 video entries CLOSE
Friday, 7 December - announcement
As soon as the video submission window is closed, the competition begins with a round of public votes. The 20 videos of each category that get the most votes arrive at the finals.
Among the best performances, the ones that have not received many votes, could be selected by the judges and entered in the final selection.
During the final selection process the Red Bull King of the Air judges will analyze each video clip with the same judging criteria, just like in a live performance of Red Bull King of the Air.
Sounds like the voting that is currently on now doesn't count at all...only the votes after November 30th.
So make sure to vote again after Nov 30th !

PS: some guys should check their entries...several videos don't show !

The voting buttons are all broken, someone jacked up the HTML on the backend of their site.

I am sure voting has little real impact. It may sway judges a little of they find two riders to be very close, but I do think that the skill shown is 95% of what the selection panel is looking at.

I don't think the voting ever mattered much. They use it as an indicator, but the votes does not decide who gets in or not (as far as I understand). I mean it would take 10 mins to make a script that completely screwed up the voting.

Yes, voting doesn’t count at all.
But would be interesting to see what users prefer and who gets in at the end.

Extracted from the rules of Red Bull King of the Air 2019:
"The 20 videos of each category that get the most votes arrive at the finals.
Among the best performances, the ones that have not received many votes, could be selected by the judges and entered in the final selection."
So, number of votes should count to increase a riders chance of being part of KOTA.
Looking by the Red Bull POV, a rider that could mobilize a good number of votes already is good for the company, as it mobilize people to be impacted by the brand.

Still this is on the KOTA page:
Division of fleet:
◦ Top 9 from the previous years ranking of Red Bull King of the Air
◦ Top 9 from the ranking of the online video competition and wildcards
Janek Grzegorzewski had a lot of votes and he is out and you cannot see the results

These will be considered by the judges...but not chosen because of the score.
They decide who they want. Simple as that.

well it's not explained in the rules:
https://www.redbull.com/za-en/events/re ... -air/rules
anyway somewhere in the marketing the sport spirit is lost. i saw the guy in Tarifa and i said to myself that he will be really far in that event, maybe even on the podium.
making the videos and votes disapear looks strange. don't you think?
