I’m thinking of upgrading my mystic warrior harness to a hard shell harness for foiling and general wake style.
I’m looking at ride engine (elite or just normal hex one better value or mystic x (expensive).
Any others which are good hardshells?

I bought a Mystic Majestic X. I love it. It takes a up about half the room of my old harness in the gear tub. Dries quicker. Weighs less. Works at least as well. Much easier to open and close on the Clicker 4.0 thing. It has a leash anchor point on the spreader bar.
There's a noticeable "edge" I can feel on my ribs. It's not uncomfortable but I can detect it. It feels quite solid and rigid on my torso. I quite like that. It doesn't slide around much.
It will ride up a little but. It's not much and shouldn't happen it you ride with decent technique. It's easy to push back down.
In the shop I couldn't really tell the difference between the carbon Majestic X model and the fibreglass Majestic. It was only $100 difference and the X looked nicer. When the price is that close I will generally go the top of the range thing. Life's too short to mess around saving $100 compared to the $1000's we spend on kites and foils and the time spent doing it.
The reviews I read said the Ride Engine and the Majestic did the same job as well as each other. The Majestic was a bit more flexy than the Engine.

+1 for the Mystic Majestic X.
Ride Engines are also good but have a slightly different fit. Majestic works better for me.

I think it depends how you ride. If you ride with power, small wing and lean against the kite, or, you ride with smallest kite possible and a large wave wing in an upright posture(Greg from BRM style).

I used a RE for 1,5 years on Hydrofoil. It's OK. Then switched to Dakine board shorts harness with rope slider. It's much better.

Curious to know why you think it's better? I'm using a Ride Engine as well, but if there's something to gain from the Nitrous shorts, I'm interested.
*Disclaimer-I sell both of these and others...

I have also changed recently from waist harness to ion boardshorts/slider. Been using a waist harness for the last 9yrs. For foiling i much prefer the lower pull i feel like i could spend all day out on the water without ever getting tired. Also i found my foiling was instantly better (but i'm still not very good, struggling to gybe).
cant see me going back to waist harness for foiling.
