I think they have a sprayed clear coat on them.

For sure foil wings get scratched and banged up. Ive been repairing mine and friends wings.
Old LF, nearer Lf Impulse and and my moses.

If they could figure out a more durable finish... But I think we are looking for a miracle...

Love the Onda.

At the same time they appear to be an extremely thin wing build as far as layers goes....

After rubbing off the top coat and buffing into clear, there doesnt appear to be much on there before reaching the cloth....

Suppose I cant complain when a new 633 wing is only a few hundred dollars...

That's how it should be, right? The carbon cloth is what provides the strength to the material. A bunch of extra resin around it makes it heavier without making it stronger.

Well, it depends. A surfboard generally has a filler coat of clear resin, then a flow coat of clear over that. That's thicker than whats on the Moses wings.

It appears to me, I'm guessing, that Moses puts a prepeg into the mold without a gel coat. The wing is coming out of the mold with a very thin layer of epoxy over the laminate. Then the wings are sprayed with a 2 component clear coat.

But surfboards aren't built in molds, and the filler coat is to add enough material to be able to sand it smooth without sanding into the cloth. Then the top coat is really just for looks (and often left off on lightweight performance shortboards).

Yes, that's true.

If you build in a mold, they can choose to put a thicker gel coat into the molds first, then put in composites. They could even choose to put in some glass fiber then the carbon. That would give us more materials on the outside to work with while repairing without damaging the carbon.

What’s a good filler to patch the small deeper cuts and gashes? Now that I won’t be in the water for a little bit, I’d like to do a tune up on my front wing.
