Well there you go. Hooning around is just generally speeding along at a high speed. To hoon is to speed. Or perhaps drive/operate your devices aggressively.

Now back to the back drag and upwind angle.

What you are doing is exactly the same as racers, really powered with a big kite (relative to the wind), kite quite low, and heeling over as much as possible to use all wing for upwind angle :thumb:

But dragging the back in the water is quite impressive, and assume you must have the kite depowered extremely on the trim, in order to pull the bar all the way in for this - if it was the ass there is nothing to it, but with your back meaning body straight or arched back, amazing, lets get a picture one day :D

Sorry, no polars. I'm not man of waterproof GPS.

Peter. Close to racers but not quite the same. I had the kite high, almost at the zenith, fully powered, going slower than a racer vmg speed, (I do that style of upwind too, kite low, powered, canted back). This a noticable additional angle upwind higher than racer vmg angle. It's not sustainable for racing tho. Front wing out of the water, board constantly touching down on it's edge. And yes the arse touch down is easy,. The arched back touch down is hard.

Oh, sorry, I read your post "Foil on an almost Horizontal angle" like your foil(kite) was down low, but you meant the hydrofoil (mast) instead

As I recall he is using his homebuild, not that far away from a Moses 550 wing, which is 570-580 cm2.

But correct me I might be wrong Plummet

Yep my wing shape is loosely based on a fluente wing.

Tried it again yesterday on the 8m lei reasonably powered. No dice. The kite didn't have enough lift to can't over enough to hold me up . I think this might be a move for big lifty foil kites.
