Foil front loop tutorials

Postby pikovsg » Sat Jan 19, 2019 2:36 am

Been looking everywhere, but can't find any videos or tutorials out there.
Can do backloops, tacks, 360, supemans, rodeos, but seem to have no balls to go for a front loop.
Any tips or videos you can share?

Just don’t do it strong winds.
You are the only one standing in your way!
Stop thinking and just go for it.
It’s a new movement, so you need to get used to it...with every try you will get better...and develop a feeling for the trick...until you land it.

Good luck 👍🏻

Toby, did you get in to foiling?
Love the motivation talk, but I think there is more at stake here comparing to regular TT business...
you are definitely more likely to hurt your ankles doing this stuff on HF and more likely to hurt yourself landing on a wing or a mast.
I had my 4mm suit cut on my back (lucky for me just minor cuts on the skin) and 2-3 twisted ankles in 1 year of foiling and I am mostly doing straight up jumps...
Never had those injuries in my 7 years of TT kiting..

The trick is to aggressively bend your front knee to keep the foil going up as you throw your body forward toward your bent knee. I do them from heelside and toeside. Practice really is the key after knowing what to try. Like on a TT or surfboard, stalling backwards to the kite is very normal when learning. So, you may need to swing the board for momentum if that happens. If you slowdown the video below, you should be able to see the technique for fronts. They are fun. Good luck!

Awesome riding man. If you have some flow and style. What is the wind and kite size for that jump and wave ride combo?

Thanks! It was light and my first day back in decent waves after a year of lake riding. I was on my 12m Rebel in 10-15ish. Because it was light early that day, I had the drone guy all to myself. 😁 He does amazing work with that thing. I feel very fortunate that he made a couple videos of me before he left.

Note how he pull down with his front hand at 0.29, but do not loop your kite.
