Disagree completely.
Thread specifically addresses desire for hybrid board.
Italian guy posts a nice, conventional offering and no one gives him a hard time.
Norby has a more innovative offering that addresses travel durability, ease of use, multisport function, everything asked for, and gets shit for it.
He's not named dimitri (who also deserves respect btw), nor is he pushing some highly marketed rehashed corporate junk either, guys.
It's not cool when some marketing dweeb shows up and pollutes the forum, but it sucks when you high horse riders drive away the likes of bruno legaignoux, greg drexler, most good pros, as well as unknown innovators.
Fortunately they get their inspiration offline, anyway!
Differences of opinion are ok. Ad hominem attacks are not (I assume “high horse riders” is meant in a pejorative manner)

I don’t like it when people with a brand affiliation don’t state it in their profiles.

Hi. Last year in Maui I had a lot of sessions with my North Hybrid 5'1 in the normal surf set up and as a foil board (with a Nobile foil). No problem at all, obviously is not comparable to a smaller dedicated foil board but I went out in the lighter days simply mounting the foil to It :D . In the video below you can see this board in action in the normal set up, the other surf board is the Duotone Pro Session 5'8.

Cheers

Carlo
Does the hybrid offer straps options?

Great video man!

Looks like a good board if you like to ride a surfboard carrying lot of load from the kite.
Cool that its a convertible.
How is it when it gets on a good wave and you can let the kite pull fade or hover at nuetral?
Looks like you primarily ride powered.

Anyone have a report on the slingshot convertible?
Looks fun too.

Riding on a "high horse" simply means you are putting yourself up as if you were in a morally superior position, or as if you were the one to make the rules.
Common figure of speech.
Sorry if you feel attacked.
If so though, consider how others might feel when they try to put their best foot forward openly here and get told to go away.
Think about how it was nice in the old days when sometimes kite and board designers would engage online more often without pseudonyms, etc.
If you were around for that..

I just point out I don't think it's good to silence someone who has a contribution to make to the sport. Also, in this case the man's involvement is explicitly clear in posts and profile.
If someone's out of bounds, calling it out should really be up to Toby. That is all I want to say since it is not really enhancing the topic to argue.

I appreciate all fhe feedback.
And support.
Kiteboarding was on the experimental fringe 1999 to 2003 and it was exciting.
I know youve felt that buzz BWD —cheers.

The new foil buzz reminds me of the beginning of kite and even more like snowboardings boom.
Good times refresher for designers and inventors

Thanks Scott. I didn't notice any significant differences beetween the North Hybrid and a comparable compact shape kite surfboard (I'm the kiteboard tester for the website www.standuppaddling.it). It is fast even when the kite lines are slacked and It can turn on a dime. Very efficient upwind in marginal conditions with a good pop, imho great board to travel with.

Cheers

Carlo

Right on.
How are they for paddle in foilsurfing?
And surfing without the kite? If youve tried?
I am curious about having a go surfing on my friends North Whip but havent tried yet. Looks like it would make a nice convertible

Always appreciated this quote from Mark Shinn.

And its an even more valid point if you have a travel board for kiting, foilsurfing, AND paddle in surfing

Hi. Kiste the North hybrid has two straps inserts. Thanks scottnorby. The board is like a modern compact shape surfboard so It can easily ride a wave without moving the kite and even with the lines slacked It holds a lot of speed. I really like this board.

Cheers
Carlo
