The only negative side effect of HoverGlide being made from depleted uranium is too much inertia.
It hits you much harder than light carbon rigs and tends to chase you longer after a fall.. it can literally go on its own for a second or 2..

A foil with large-sized board will go down propelled by waves very fast. It's a convenience if you wipe out and it comes to you, but you will also end up chasing it once it goes downwind of you.

A pocketboard will stick to where it is better and would drift slower but you won't be learning on a pocketboard.

And last, and extreme case is a large volume wing that keeps the foil floating sideways and not only it doesn't drift, I saw reports of board sailing upwind on its own.

Since you're asking all these questions, I have few for you:
- what is your proficiency in kitesurfing (twintip/directional)?
- what is your weight?
- what are waves/wind conditions of your spot?
- what is your budget for foil setup?

Re: foil following you after a crash. Has much more to do with board volume and design than weight.

I had a heavy foil on a heavy surfboard shape that would absolutely follow you after a crash. Same foil on a roughly the same weight minimal volume pocket board ditches pretty much 100% of the time when I come off it.

This is what I meant in my previous post. If you fall from it with some speed it will continue following you like some invisible man riding it. My carbon rig never does it.

I formally started kiting in February 2018 (several lessons in previous years) and began foiling with the SS hoverglide in April/May. I have taken my lumps/bumps while foiling, but it has only followed me enough to be dangerous once over 40+ sessions. It is insanely heavy, can't even imagine how I will learn strapless; that said it is nearly indestructible.

I wonder with the weight is it less likely to jump up into your kite lines?

The Hoverglide Fkite with the Space Skate wing is an excellent beginner foil and easier to learn than the original NF2 . The heavier setup with the aluminum mast is not noticeable once your on the water , in fact the weight is nice to keep the foil under control.
