I am working on a harness based push away quick release that doesn't have any fast swinging opening parts when activated under load.
It is meant to replace the wichard most racers use now and will be compatible with all bars that only have a stainless steel ring at the bottom end of the depower rope.
Keep you posted when I have the first preproduction samples, most freeriders I showed it were also very interested.

That won't release under tension. I hope that's how you want it. snap shackles with the long arm like the wichard 24xx models are not supposed to release under tension. You want this on a sailing boat as you don't want your lines to come undone while you are underway. Quick release wichard snap shackles like the 26xx models are supposed to release under tension, and cost about double what the 24xxx models do. I don't have a problem if someone wants a shackle like that just know what you are doing and this comment is more for those who are building their QR's for the first time and don't know about the difference between the 24xx models and 26xx models.

(From earlier in this thread) this is what I use. Has a swivel, and the pulley slides on rope. It's a modified 6mm eye-jaw swivel (316 SS).

yeah very nice. Just making the comment for others that read the forum and never comment, especially since this stuff can be stored for years.

I've seen two spreader bars which made me curious and I'd love to hear your opinions.
1. spreader bar with a small stainless ring welded in the middle instead of a hook
2. spreader bar with 150mm "leash" attached to the middle of the bar( instead of a hook) and a stainless ring on the end of the leash
Similar I saw in this thread earlier too (pics below)
None of these two were sliding type of spreader bars but both would move attachment point closer to the rider's body and reduce lever. A comment from riders was that these allow better control and don't twist harness on you as much.
I’m alright using sliding spreader bar but it’s less safe and less precise for TT riding and I still love to boost and having only one spreader bar/harness would be simpler
Is thee anyone here who had experience with those?
My concern is these would still twist harness while riding toeside

Guys, Enata has basically figured this out perfectly:
I'm not big on ordering stuff from the other side of the planet, but damn if that doesn't look like a workable solution for hooked-in riding sans chicken!

How much would it be twisting harness riding toeside?
I’m sure racers can care less about toeside but I ride it a lot.
