Hi
I have a standard 2017 Cabrinha trimlite bar, and I'm trying to teach my 8 year old lad with it, but his arms are nowhere near long enough to use it properly.
How can I bring the bar nearer?
I'm thinking of of getting rid of the harness hook and using a slider instead - but is there any good way to ditch the chicken loop, but still keep the safety release?
I've told him to hang off the top bunk for as long as possible every night before bed to stretch his arms, but it just doesn't appear to be helping.
Or any other suggestions?
Thanks

Hi there,
The easiest way I can think of is to find the Fireball lower unit and swap this out with your loop. You can then open the QR1, remove the Fireball bit with the ball at the bottom of the assembly, and connect the pin directly to a ring on the spreader bar (rope slider), or even a piece of line with sewn loops at either end that wraps around the back of the spreader bar to make the connection as close to the bar as possible. Make sure you test the functionality of the QR1 with some load on the front lines before giving this to your kid. The disclaimer is that this is not recommended because it's not in the user manual and it's a modification of the original use, so do this at your own risk. PM me if you have additional questions.

cabrinha s recoil bar could work ,as the coil does not let the bar go too far, together with a seat harness could do the job.

That only works in low to medium winds, in high winds/high end the bar pressure compresses the spring entirely. At least that happened on the 9m switchblade I tested in 30kn. Couldn't reach the bar after i let it go for a spin.
Also, isn't the fireball the same length as their chickenloop?

This is what I use when using a 2013 IDS connection. I don't know if something similar can be done with the 2017.

This looks great. Where’s that metal bit from? I can’t quite figure it out. (Not the shackle). Thanks.

Is that white ball there just as a part of the attachment, or as a safety release, or both.
Thanks for the idea!

It is the BoardRiding Maui standard attachment system and trim adjustment. The white release is for fully releasing the kite. The orange bead on the leash line is just there to keep the leash line clear of the area of the D-ring which the Cabrinha SS lever clamps onto.

Hi Dragnfly, it’s the fireball lower section, code KS7FBLOWR.
