LP Foils

Anybody have any experience/feedback with LP foils? (... couldn't find anything using search function)

Super light. Didnt love them. I think weight is important but if the foil is too light it can become really jittery and that was the case with LP

I enjoy mine. I use the small wing on a 40" mast and a medium wing on a 25" mast I had them make. LPs are very loose when compared with other foils. I also have a NP surf small. When I switch back, the LP feels like I'm on ice. But again, I enjoy the totally different feeling of each foil setup.

I guess you need a bus to get your stuff to the beach ...

"On ice": I suppose this means they feel slippery - low drag?

Ha! It's like having different kites for different conditions. We're basically flying two wings when we're foiling. So, I take the kites and foils I'll need for the day. If I could only have one, I'd pick my LP 25".

Yes, that's exactly what I mean. For some, that feeling is very uncomfortable. If "stability" is your thing, the LP is not a good fit.

I'm wondering if heavier foils are inherently more stable? People seem to find the SS Hoverglide easy to learn on in spite of how heavy it is ... or perhaps because of how heavy it is?

(BTW: what is that Doyle board?)

Yes, the forward weight in motion requires more side energy to move it. The bigger surf mast does the same thing with less weight. Are you looking for a first foil? If so, I suggest the NP surf. It foils at low speed and is very stable. Later, it's a lot of fun in small surf.

The Doyle is the first mutant kiteboard. I got it in 2002 to replace my directional Skypirate. I used it to learn how to foil a few years ago. Funny really. It was on the wall for a long time.
