marc jacobs kota - pushed harder than anyone

omfg

does anyone else share the appreciation of how nuts this is?! am i alone here. It is all very well throwing a megaloop then getting your kite above you and paragliding dangling your trick to the water, but this... look and the speed sideways, line angle.. and no handle. No one else is doing this. Deserves way more respect than it is getting.

No one is pushing big air progression the way he is. Check these omfg! kite angle during trick.. :-0

That certainly looks really spectacular and worthy of a lot of respect. I see your point..

I enjoyed watching Marc’s new trick!

Should have been move of the day.

It’s sad they don’t award innovation. Such a sweet Megaloop Boardoff with a Backroll...stunning!

I hope Marc keeps pushing and will be rewarded one day for it!

That sure is pretty amazing!! Best thing is that he does it without a handle. Mounting a handle is just not right in a boardsport like this.

Says someone not on top.

Once your are on top you will know that limiting gear limits progression.

And some tricks are easier grabbing on the rail than on the handle.

But you will never get to this level to know.

Well in my opinion if you have to put a handle on your board to do certain maneuvers it is more a matter of skill limitation than gear limitation. But i am also an old School boarder. Couldnt really imagine putting a handle on a surfboard either, just to pull off more wack aerials. Each to their owm...

Nope, nothing to do with skills, since I pull most of the tricks with rail as well. But there are many which you won’t land without a handle.

But again, we are talking highest level here...

Strictly hooked 😂

I agree with Mr_Brownstone. Ironically, i think your philosophy is actually more detrimental to progression. Minimalist is best imo, no hook, no handle. However, if Mr_Brownstone had been kiting since 2001 and he's not of sufficient level to have a valid opinion then mine's prob not going to mean jack

I thought the KOTA final was awesome. Richman and Whaley really going for it was good to see, unlucky neither of them nicked it but probably fair given the height Langeree was getting by all accounts. No doubt in the coming years the height will go up from the technical riders as they improve(unhooked megaloops are a relatively new technique) and push the old guard into early brand management. Format seems fairly settled now, they should just let the likes off Whaley, Mario, Martinez etc evolve it naturally and the most hardcore should prevail. I find sporting comps are often most entertaining in their early years while there's so many unknowns, for all the complaints and arguments we may well find ourselves looking back in 10 years at how entertaining it used to be... or i could be talking utter shite.

I'm no expert, just your typical arm chair critic. Some incredible performances this year and amazing tricks, so inspiring. Reminds me of the leap FMX took when Redbull, Monster, Nitro circus etc came onto the scene and suddenly people were throwing double back flips etc.

I could never call it as a judge but I must say the standard big air, loop, rotation with maybe a board off seem pretty vanilla now (I could only ever dream to throw that down at 20m + in the air lol), but as a spectator, it's exciting to see riders trying new things even if they dont get the height or hang time of others like Jacobs and Richman.

I hope the judges are a bit more open to this next year. It would also be cool to have a proper queen of the air run at the same time.

My last idea would be a 3rd comp or category for the funniest trick held at the end of the tournament - not just people riding naked but think Nick Jacobson and Tom New Cal style videos for inspiration.

My philosophy is detrimental ? 😂😂😂

Saying this to the most progressive and innovative rider in the world. You guys are too funny.

And what to expect from slim. Never anything respectful.

Low level and a nobody.
Life must suck at your end.

Won’t stop me from inventing and progressing 😘
