Every time someone posts a new thread “fatality in XYZ” it’s not funny. I guess prayers and thoughts to relatives who raised selfish and careless children.

I remember that...very scary...and amazing that he survived it. Lucky for sure but also very smart in his decision when to bail out of this.

he is a really great guy and all up for our sport. Would have been a big loss for the sport if he had died.

I don't think so... bailing out of a paraglider with tangled risers that is flying correctly and with a good glide ratio is a stupid decision.

I thought that, I know nothing about paragliding but surely being attached to a wing that's descending slowly albeit slightly out of control is better than a freefall?

Maybe not, I'd be interested to know how he came to that decision.

I believe you that he is a nice guy and that he was very Lucky.. but he was really very far from being smart.. a no brainer; it was plain stupid.

Old topic and you can read here about it: http://www.paraglidingforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=84564

Well I know nothing about paragliding but that lift from the beach is as stupid as what, and then look surprised if such a person died...

Seems like a lot of hindsight judgement going on for Damo's bailout. What you don't seem to know is that he was tangled, the craft was circling downwards toward the water and he didn't have his float. The plan was to jump out before he hit the water, but once he climbed out, everything straightened up and of course it flew directly over land toward a building not viewable in the video.
