All done 1st bar so stoked on how it turned out never been so pumped to try a bar... :D
This one is for 4&5m 41cm bar..
Still have to install flag out line..
Not using the clam cleat how it wanted me to but should be fine lol
I highly discourage anyone to use that shackle! IT DOES NOT OPEN UNDER LOAD!!!

Agree this is the QR lol rope is easy to pull instead of putting finger into ring when connecting to rope on harness...

At least the distance between the powerline pigtails on your kite.

Most brands use the entire length of one powerline to flagout or 6-8m when they use some kind of stopper to prevent the bar from shooting all the way up the lines so somewhere around that length should be safe for all sizes.

I would rather use a Wichard 2673. Need to add a stopperball to improve grip, something like the fireball release system. Keep it simple and clean.

^^thought the ronstan swivel shackle 70$ CAD was $$ that thing bit to much for what it is...
Using this for other bar...it was free and retro & much easier to untwist the lines :thumb:

Indeed $70 seems pricey.

I like to keep it (very) simple.

This mechanism works and is well below 10 Euro.

However, using whatever parts you have lying around also makes a lot of sense. :thumb:

Just decided to sell ronstan snap shackle on eBay  and ordered a wichard 2773 it’s a must to have a swivel integrated :thumb:
And gaining 15cm more bar throw over the bunk strap release at the moment 2773 super compact and functional :D

Haha. :-D
I like that you are so open to suggestions, but I have yet to understand them. ;-)

I see this Wichard as being inferior to the self constructed QR version above. It uses about the same space, it is more complicated to eject and it is way more expensive.

First you will always have one part dangling around. I'd be annoyed by that alone.
Then, this part could get stuck somewhere. Think murphy. Maybe even think safety line...

In case of emergency you will need (1) to find the right damn dangling thing and get a hold of it and then (2) figure out where to pull it to.

The self-build one is a simple and intuitive grab to the kite and shift away. Done.

Anyway, the wichard sure is a very nice piece of work and I do enjoy it when sailing.

What do you think about the new Wichard shackles?

Looks like you have more space to arrange your release system. You can release them under high load just like some of the other wichard shackles.
