Anyone has tested Goove skate L? I don't know which one get M or L. I have a 1.30 cm carbon board with no volume I am very happy.
I have the L full carbon red stripe, 130cm
its in the pictures at the front of this thread.
I did have the 120cm M painted carbon Skate last year which I loved, but sold it to my buddy who was wanting to buy it,
I have a replacement M 120 full carbon Skate on order which I should have in a few weeks.
I picked up the 130cm L full carbon 5 weeks ago from Gunnar at the start of my last 3 week holiday in fuerteventura.
the 130cm is way thicker than the smaller 120, the 120cm is 3cm thick, the 130 is 5cm thick, this is very noticeable when touching down, as it glides on the surface better,
body dragging out in onshore wind is a little easier,
extra effort is needed to get it to turn very quickly on the fly, its not as twitchy as the smaller 120.

The 120 M is much more fun to use for the more experienced foiler no doubt about that.

However I am very happy to use the 130L for all the times I need to keep extra volume under my feet,
I am in the very frustrating foot switch on the fly learning period,
and find the 130 is far more forgiving of all my failed attempts, allowing me to recover more easily, I now fall in much less than before, and that is due to the board and its extra volume.
I reckon I will need a few more months using the 130 before I have it fully cracked.
maybe sooner.
At which point I think I will sell the 130 and return to using my Moses T38 Ltd and my Skate 120.

What's the difference between the full carbon and painted carbon? Id personally rather it be painted a lighter color to help with internal temps. These guys ship to the states? Thinking about getting one to replace my Dwarcraft 42"

I get the theoretical concern over black boards in hot weather but is it really a problem? What about all the black carbon masts and foils out there? I have never heard of one delaminating from heat.

It’s only an issue if low temp resin is used and the ambient tempteture can exceed the tolerance of the cured resin

If the board has EPS in the core then overheating can cause issues. Do these boards have the goretex vent in the leash plug to mitigate this? I would prefer a solid corecell board. They have to be thinner to keep the weight down but better durability IMO.

Thanks for the answer, one of the things that worries me most is the surface turns if the M of 120 sinks the nose.

This is from their website. Does it provide any insights relevant to the overheating question?

Odd they say the EPS thickest part is 10cm when depending on the model up to 5cm total. With 2x 3mm pvc skins the EPS would be over 4cm. I suspect they use something like this.
https://greenlightsurfsupply.com/collec ... -plug-v314
EPS boards contain very small air pockets between the foam beads which expand and contract with changing temperatures. If a board is dinged while surfing and water gets in, additional heat (leaving your board on the beach or in a hot car) will cause the water to change phase in to steam and exert pressure on the fiberglass skin - pushing the glass away from the foam (delamination).
