Staying hydrated while on the water
Looking for some creative ideas for staying hydrating while kiteboarding. I know most people probably keep a bottle of water with their gear on the beach, which is what I have done in the past. Considering using a Camelbak or similar to keep from having to come in often on a hot day. Or worse, forgetting to come in and getting dehydrated. I thought about using a camelbak although I'm not sure how well that would fit if using an impact vest or life vest. Additionally, I don't know how well it would fare when taking a good fall. Onyx makes a belt pack with Hydrate pouch. But I'm guessing that would get in the way of my harness (nitrous shorts).
Any other thoughts?

Camelbaks work well. They do not seem to suffer from hard landings, and they are easy to use. I have only used mine when doing long downwinders, so it has not gotten much mileage, but it does not seem to deteriorate. Just don’t trust the pockets, had a relative lose his phone out of the camelback pocket.
Wearing an impact vest should not upset the Camelbak any, but I admit I have not worn both simultaneously.

Why not just drink that bottle before your session? If it's hot, you can always get rid of excess liquids while on the water 
If it's cold and you are in drysuit, maybe it's not the best time for long downwinders and staying close to your bottle on the beach and the toilet is best approach...

I'm using a soft bottle that I put in the pocket of my shorts. 280ml is quite compact. Has locking mechanism, so it doesn't leak if squished.

For fresh or saltwater kiting carry a 2-3ltr hydration bladder in a trail running vest and wear that over your impact vest. Too many brands to list (Google "vest hydration pack"), but look for something with wider/robust adjustment buckles and straps.

Another alternative would be a waist hydration pack that fits over your harness but is supported (think suspenders) so it doesn't slip down/around when riding. Check out Source's Hipster...

Some really good ideas here. I don't have any pockets on my harness shorts so stowing a water bottle may not be a good option. Love the Viking helmet, lol. Lifestraw looks really cool but I'm at saltwater as much as freshwater. The Hipster waist hydration option is definitely a better choice than what I came up with but is certainly a bit pricey. Thanks guys!

Agree fully, drink a lot on your way to the spot, much better and your problem is solved
