From what I know Colombia is the wrong place for waves.
Go to Chile.
The only wave I found is in front of the old center in Cartagena...where the Cafe Del Mar is. But you need to downwind from east of the old center, since there is no beach.
Little, clean rollers, about 1m. Sideshore wind.
San Andres island has also some waves at the channels, but with onshore wind.
I don’t know the pacific side though....maybe there you will find them.

what are DRL spots?
colombia is a very large country... with lots of coastline.
(but..so is brazil)
if you will be in santa marta area anyways...i'd research "parque tayrona" ..there are many pristine "regional classic" level breaks in the area.
if you will also have a car, self sufficient (don't expect anyone to help you), and can surf independent of the kite...the trip may be worth it.
however, a beginner + strong currents+going out in offshore winds= your body being found 40 days later by the kuna indians (in panama)
also, if one is unable/unwilling figure out wind directions from windgarbs/ikitesurf/pilot charts/etc...just stay in cartagena or san andreas for kitesurfing.

There is some DTL wave sailing near Baranquilla. It is a bit tough with many of the good breaks requiring downwinders to get to, and sometimes no easy place to launch or land within 1 km of the break.
I'm sure there are many other spots between Baranquilla and Cartegna and many other locations. it is a huge coast with lots of wind. It is not the smooth long waves of Peru or Chili
But it can be good fun:)

DTL = down the line ?
That’s looks like a sweet wave.
Where is this exactly?
Downwind or upwind of Barranquilla ?

Yes DTL= down the line... Not DRL that is Drone Racing League for me!
This is punta roca near salgar. We did a downwinder from there to Puerto Velero.
There are many others, and it changes often due to all sand and mud (and logs ..watch out for those!) coming out of the Rio Magdalena. The water is not pretty with all the silt and mud, but hopefully not toxic..

Salinas del ray is a beach about an hour east of Cartagena that has some “decent” waves. The actual wave spot is not huge but fun. The rest of the coast there is more like it is in Cartagena- small, wind waves. I kited out of Cartagena and loved it. Not many peeps, great city to explore, awesome nightlife, excellent food, cultural experience worth the travel. You could setup some big downwinders if desired, probably like Brazil. I guess I’ve been spoiled by west coast waves. Loved Columbia though for a travel experience!

In your photos it looks kind of like Great Lakes kiting - wind-driven waves. Does the coastline of Colombia from Cartagena up to Santa Marta actually get ocean swell that creates waves?
