On surfboard imo only 4m and 3m has sense as ca 7 to 4m Lei replacement in ca. 20+knts wind. Upwind is then same than average wave LEI. 5m and more will be only for epic downwinder. You will just hold ground not able to gain any significant upwind

On HF it is almost no problem except more leg pressure - on HF almost all kite energy no matter power vector can be transfered to upwind - because no wake and splash loses. You will feel it like more pressure and less effortless upwind on 5m and about same as wave LEI on 4 and 3

I will not use bigger than 5 sizes. I dont know clouds - but they should be little worse than average LEI so i think it will be simmilar. My understanding is that Peaks is quite similar than Cloud but more cloudisch...

Bagged out cloud 7m c2 on foil is pretty much the same as 5m peak 4 for upwind, cloud 8m D series pretty close to same power as 5m peak4 ( at least we fly them both in the same wind for freestyle foiling and wave foiling) .
Upwind with a hydrofoil is very close to the D series clouds, not enough difference to matter although some people are more adept @ upwind with specific types of kites.

Between peak 4 and cloud D, which do you prefer overall for foiling? I thought the cloud c2 was ok but not great, but keep bearing the newer ones are a lot better.

John flies his 5m peak 4 as his go-to kite and now only flies cloud D 10m when it's super light,
My go-to kite is the ozone uno 6m. And Ozone hyperlink 7m for light wind.
The cloud D's are nicer than the c2 but they now only get flown when our launch is a muddy mess and we don't want to trash our favorite kites.
It's all opinions but at least the peaks are cheap.

Another good Peak4 11 session today.
Any estimate on the wind range you are able to handle on the 11m? I'd be a bit worried about topping out.

Jumptheshark, comparing my 5m Peak4 with my 6m and 8m Cloud Ds, using the same 24m lines, I believe the upwind ability hydrofoiling is virtually the same = good enough for my surfing and freestyle. Hope that helps.

Very narrow wind range. Diminishing returns with bigger sizes. Its a light wind insurance policy for a hydrofoil rider, not an every day kite.

12 knots and I'm begging for mercy on the hydrofoil. Too much flapping and some tip collapse that require correction. If you are not comfortable with foil kites you will hate this. The Peak likes to be flown in its bottom end wind range and the tip collapse is not an issue if you aren't trying to go fast with a depowered kite. 12 knots and any sane hydro-foiler wants a different kite anyway.

16 knots and I can't stop from getting dragged with static flight on short lines. I was hoping I could transfer this into upwind on the surfboard or Alia but so far I have no success. Again, some rear line tension is needed to keep tips from collapsing, so full depower with flapping kite is not pulling and it rests nicely on its cheek with the the bar depowered. But just pulling the bar enough to control the kite and its pulling hard.

Would you please compare the 11m Peak4's speed to some other kites you've flown?

Drifting properties for single skin kites are excellent because they just wont fly far enough in the WW that collapsing would occur. I don't know if it is even possible to front stall single skin foil kite.
Where there is a will, there is a way. But you have to really stuff it badly and in very light winds. Riding downwind on wave, totally slack line as plummet describes, I have done it on the 11. Again this is in winds so light I could not even body drag out with closed cell foil because rising and falling with the swell would cause the kite to fall.
