My first ever death loop!

Postby andylc » Mon Apr 15, 2019 11:57 am

It took a few years but I finally got the opportunity to test my instincts and my chicken loop QR for real! Luckily they both worked and no harm came to anyone. Next time I will remember to double check that my bridles are both properly attached to the kite BEFORE launching...

It can happen to anyone, if its not, it will at some time,
scary.
but mine was the scary thoughts I had for weeks after,
caused by a 2 kite tangle and the other guy freezing with fear when It could have been saved, we were dragged 100 yards up the beach, very quickly, bouncing all the way.
a kite buggy guy jumped full body flat on to one of the kites.thank god!

To be honest I felt quite invigorated at how well the safety worked and how easy and natural it was to activate it when I needed to, had an awesome session after that!

I like a nice successful release

I had a failed launch on Saturday, it was gusty and I was on my own, kite spun and shot up a little too fast for comfort, before I could think I'd released and it landed.

Actually then found it easier to reassemble the chicken loop, walk around to about where I was trying to get to and slowly let the line back through, launched lovely after that!
