Gunnar , did you ride the 13 ?
Yes. I have flown all sizes. What would you like to know?

Gunnar
Is the 13 same AR than the smaller ones and V1 ?
Turning speed compare to V1 UL 12 ?
any better to keep water out sitting on the water for a long period before relaunching ?
Upwind same or any better ?
fifth line same principle than say the subzero ?
Thanks Gunnar !

Gunnar,
Questions about the Hyperlink V2 13m on Hydrofoil.
Is it faster turning than the Chronos V3 13?
Does it give as good low end? If not, please elaborate.
Does it have same bar feel and power delivery as V1 9m? Is it as light and as linear?
What does it weigh?

Is the 13 same AR than the smaller ones and V1 ? Not Sure, but I think it is.

Turning speed compare to V1 UL 12 ? It turns tighter

any better to keep water out sitting on the water for a long period before relaunching ? Yes. It really does not let the water in easily. I had a hard time getting it to fill with water when we were trying to film the water coming out of the tips.

Upwind same or any better ? Pretty much the same

fifth line same principle than say the subzero ? Yes. It has an internal reefing line now like on the SubzeroV1

Does it give as good low end? If not, please elaborate. It really depends on the rider and what you are using as a board. As the kite turns faster than you can get more low end out if you have the skills.

Does it have same bar feel and power delivery as V1 9m? Is it as light and as linear? No. It has slightly more bar pressure and is more progressive.

What does it weigh? 2.1kg

I disagree with you. It is not a matter of just or at all how fast it turns but how fast it flies and overall it's efficiency. There is plenty of very fast turning LEIs that have shit efficiency which you can't work crap out of.

Overall I like kites that you can work more power out of, it gives them a wider range. Because the attribute that allows them to fly faster also gives more depower. Overall I think it is lower frontal drag, as in thinner airfoils that allow this. A lot of kite design has been stuck to make kites more so called "friendly" and have used fat attributes to so called "achieve" it. Must be some association there with fat people in our society.

Thanks Gunnar,
In regards to low end. I am on Hydrofoil, using foil kites a year now. 100 sessions or so.

Will Hyperlink v2 13m hang in air in lulls well? Im not hunting super low end but would use it when Hyperlink 9 is too small 8-12 knots, some lulls to 6.
Hyperlink 9 works great when I have 10 knots or more.

Pity the thread got hijacked, both for the people interested in the Hyperlink V2/V1 differences, but there was also some good info exchanged on the Click in bar that should have really been in another dedicated thread. Anyway just wanted to add that from the outset with the Hyperlink V1, the design brief was to make a kite that you could use on the water, land and snow. Closed cell foils are dangerous in the alps, especially if you are riding up to the top of peaks and ridge lines. The hyperlink V2 fitted with the internal 5th line system is very safe to use in these conditions, as well as all the way back down to sea level when you want a water relaunching foil you just remove the 5th line and zip up the inlets.

I took my new HL V1 12 meter out today for the first time. Been LEI since 2005. So take this with a grain of salt, first time foil kiter, but I am selling everything else. I bought the V1 7m this evening on closeout. Coming straight from an LEI, I felt this was almost exactly the same feel as my Switchblade and much better than my old Best kites. It took maybe 5 minutes of adjusting my riding, but the jumps were twice as high, lofty, and floaty. It was amazing going upwind. I had to intentionally go downwind to stay in my launch area. I felt that the hype was exactly spot on......easy transition from an LEI to foil.

I don't know about the V2, but I think it's a really stupid idea to sell the kite without a bag. The bag for the V1 is $85 extra. REALLY? At least include a cheap nylon drawstring compression bag.

I need to work on the backstall landing. I got hammered, hot launched, inverted, and dragged before I landed it. The need for a using the FL flag out sucks on a crowded beach. I saw a Portuguese guy using a pvc grappling hoop tethered to a sand anchor. He hooks the kite at 2:55. It's an interesting idea and I wonder if it'll damage the bridle lines.

Carmelhill,
I only stall land in lightwind range.
Yea, the self landing part is a bit tricky. If you have clean area, the release to leash is not a big deal. With practice it's really ok.,
Put kite down low with tip on sand, leash on " up side". Them release c-loop and run/ walk fast sideways to get kite directly down wind. Usually no tangles on a Hyperlink.

If you have junky launch area it's going to be bad for the kite. Best to have assistance. I've taught a bunch of lei kiters how to take down a foil.

If I lived in junky launch area I wouldn't have foils.

A local I know does a teather landing with foil,I tried it once...Never again...
