Hi folks,
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of these, do they make toeside any easier? Any downsides?
Thanks

It makes riding toeside significantly easier.
It's great on surfboard too as you have more freedom of movement you can project more energy to your turns.
The downsides are:
- Wear and tear on the rope. You have to keep an eye on it and replace it periodically.
- I imagine boosting on a sliding spreader bar is not ideal but I always ride strapless so this isn't an issue for me. It's fine for small strapless jumps.
I have this one and I'm not going back to a fixed hook.

I use the Dakine Option, which has a hook on a rope. I’ve been using it for about a year or so. I love it for foiling. You can really open up your hips and drive into toeside. I don’t like it for jumping but I don’t jump foiling, so it doesn’t matter. No visible wear on the rope so far but replacements are cheap.

As said above! I use the Manera slider bar, it has two ropes = safer and their special ropes adds friction and makes the sliding motion more predictable. Single Spectra in my opinion is too slippery. 3 months of intense use so far still zero wear.

Twin independant 6mm line on my modified standard Ion B3 seat harness, just the hook cut away and smoothed up.
no extra cost incurred as I had all my old B3 shorts going back about 6 pairs, all now converted, spares for life
stopper balls on the ends of the lines to prevent them pulling through the buckle loops where they are secured.
not too much slack as that feels so wrong and unpredictable as the line can just feel so jerky.
I find it brilliant for boosting on my twin tip, and would never change back, zero wear due to using the click bar rope slider chicken loop.

There was an interesting discussion on Seabreeze some time ago - gets you thinking about the different aspects and nuances. Hope it helps you

they are great for toe side. no problem with most jumping either. I found the wear on the rope is rather small when foiling as I'm not as powered up as on TT. Also using regular plastic coated chicken loop/QR loop wears out rope less than stainless ring or rope specific chicken loop metal replacement like Slingshot Talon. Not much wear showing on the plastic. I use LF spreader bar with Dakine Vega seat harness. The rope lasted over 2 years with almost daily use.

Hey guys, I made up a slider just to try it out. Instead of normal rope I put a loop of 5mm stainless steel wire rope from end to end of my fixed hook spreader bar, above the hook, with two 28mm stainless steel rings. I simply joined the steel rope ends together with wire rope grips (little u bolts) behind the spreader. All stuff I had lying around in the shed. The only thick dyneema I had was really worn.
The wire rope seemed to work really well. Made a noticeable difference riding toeside, heaps more comfortable! The chicken loop didn’t slide around much at all when heelside and there was a pleasant soft ratchety sound when gybing to toeside.
I did a search but didn’t find any mention of using wire rope instead of dyneema, so was left wondering if there’s any reason why not. Doesn’t seem as though it would wear out and saves having a back up rope. Any others tried this system?
