Hi all,
Looking for some information on kiting in Qatar. I have an interview for a job there and I am wondering is it decent for Kitesurfing as that would be a deal breaker. The job is in central Doha.
Thanks in advance

Accept the job.
Qatar has beautiful beaches and consistent wind most of the year. Check ‘Fuwarit’ or ‘Zikreet ‘on Windfinder. Vibrant kiting community of about 300-400 kiters.

The problem is,
You might work long hours. Potentially weekends as well.
Light wind gear is needed, so it really depends of your kiting style.

Getting into foiling lately so maybe this will be an opportunity to work on my foiling skills. It is a teaching opportunity so I doubt I will be working long hours and weekends.

Qatar is MUCH windier than Dubai or Abu Dhabi..
Just check the weather charts. May-June and November-March the best.

Blake from MacKite spends time in Qatar I think, look over some of his old vlogs or reach out to him directly for info.

Hi Hugo
I was one of the first kiters in Qatar some 18 years ago, what I can say about the place is that wind range can be anywhere from light foiling weather to extremely strong, when accepting packages take into consideration accommodation, transport, business visa (this is a must without it you will not be legally allowed to work) and also cost of living is quite high, this is a lot higher than you expect. All beaches to teach from are at least 1 hour from Doha, check out youtube page bluepearlexperience for some kitesurfing videos taken over the last couple of years to give you an idea about the spots. Qatar is a safe location to live in and can be a lot of fun but unless you foil you will be stuck on the beach praying for wind 70% of the year, foiling can be done around 95% of the year. If you have any questions you can also send us a note on the facebook page blue pearl experience. Aloha Jonathan

Plus,
duno about Doha, but in Dubai, the driving license from the EU is not recognized, hence more hidden cost. The heat is insane, 35C @5AM, thanks but no thanks. Do not underestimate this, working in such environment is not easy, recreation is even worse. Petrol is cheap tho.
Will be interesting to watch the World Cup there...
