I'm sorry. I took this as a generalization. Does that not fit the definition of generalizing the view of a group?

So why would you "find it amusing" if you did not simply generalize me as having a particular view because I am an American?

And once we get this cleared up, would you care to offer a view contrary (or in agreement) to what I have submitted?

No because the group isn’t entirely made up of Americans, so why would you lie about what I said or try and twist it to deflect it was directed solely at you?

As for agreeing or disagreeing with you? You have written so much most of which contradicts itself or offered opinion so far from my position I wouldn’t know where to start.

The question was simple

Are kites produced in sweat shops?

No they are not. The end

I find it amusing when an American? ( MV) starts getting preachy about asset stripping and general fuckery in other countries when the USA has such an impeccable record, oil grab in the Middle East, any number of South American countries that had regime change forced spin them under the guise of democracy or just myrdering large numbers of the indigenous population.

You criticise the Chinese for looking after their own interests? They are doing it with money and investment, the USA with bullets and false democracy

I suspect history will judge the effectiveness of the first method rather more sympathetically
and then this....

Which you have already stated already. (QUESTION #1) How did you go off topic, when complaining about other forum users going off topic?

Given the challenge you referenced me with the top quote:

But james, you do get special note for assuming that all Americans agree with the past and present policies of the US's government.
to which you replied:

How does “an American” singular

Become “All Americans” plural?

As for lying that I said you all agreed on past and present US policy? Well you get a special note from me too.

Stop lying.

Let me make this simple. You have stated that "I (james)find it amusing when an American? ( MV) starts getting preachy......". What if I made a similar statement such as 'I find it amusing when a Frenchman starts getting preachy about how to defend their borders'. Or what if I state that 'I find it amusing when a German is not on time'. These statements specifically denote an assumption that all of a particular group exhibit a common behavior, or trait. Thus the reference here is to the bias toward, the French, Germans, or in your case, Americans. We know generalizations are not always good, or always bad. But how can you deny (Question #2) that you are not making an assumption about me because I am a member of a group (for which it is proper address that group as the plural)?

And I do actually agree with you that almost all groups exhibit certain stereotypical behavior. I just do not find amusement in that. And just to "head you off at the pass" I am not putting words in your mouth as you did state exactly:

"an Ameircan" is undenyably referencing your assignment of the group identity to me as being American, or in group made up of Americans.

"amusing" is the only thing left for you to try to back out of.

Because at some point in time every kite loft has allowed cameras In to document the fact that they are not sweat shops exploiting cheap unskilled labour. Often as a result of baseless accusations on forums like this.

The North loft in Sri Lanka, Neil Pryde Hong Kong, the Naish factory( name escapes me) the Ezzy loft, crazy fly with thier European loft, the evidence is there

And no not every brand has its own loft, they will often be on different floors of the same location and part of a much larger facility. There simply isn’t the volume to run a single brand single location loft per kite brand

MV

By adding the bit in brackets (MV) it was a personal comment not a generalisation, the word “an” used in the same context denoted a singularity.

An American, (you) , not all the Americans, not some of the Americans on this topic etc

My amusement stems largely from your constant stream of cod psychology and babble aimed at diverting this entirely straightforward OP into your usual rant against COREporations and the system as in variably you do on every thread

It amuses me that you can’t or simply wont modify your standard response pattern.

Calling the kettle black here, ain't cha buddy?

Still, what was the point of referencing me as "an American" then? Come on, you are not fooling anyone on this one. I think your best bet is to claim a freudian slip.

Okay, call it what you want. Socialism/Social welfare programs that are baseline necessities for the decency of all citizens (healthcare, education, elderly care) are available in the countries I named. These social welfare programs are typically associated to "socialist" countries. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/27/opin ... Position=2
And yet, government provision of those things make them SUCK ROCKS! Public education in America fails to prepare students for real jobs. They get government financed educations in "liberal arts" and find nobody wants to hire them. Health care in European countries and Canada results in shortages, and is approaching financial crisis levels.

Canada's health care crisis is an economics problem, not a management problem
Nova Scotia's health care 'crisis' is Canada's crisis too

NHS staff shortages could reach 250 000 by 2030 without urgent action, experts warn
Europe faces a shortage of doctors
Europe’s health systems on life support

I know that there are also serious problems with health care in America, too. But its not like the government leaves health care to the free market in America, either. We have monopolies created by the FDA and licensing laws, restrictions on the supply of doctors trained because of the AMA, tons of spending from Medicare and Medicaid inflating prices, and so on and so on.

Government involvement in these things causes the same problems as socialism in any other sector of the economy. Its just that when a country leaves the rest of the economy free, like in most European countries, the government can muddle a long for a while with a semi-OK health care system. But it eventually breaks down.
