Losing the front hook

Two options that work for me:

1) Switch to just the rear hook and put it as far back as possible, this is how I ride now and it allows me to hold the board in place for water starts and then once riding it's nowhere near my rear foot and doesn't get in the way at all (bonus I have a loop of old kite line around the inserts to use as a leash loop)

2) Attach a short piece of webbing to the back most front insert or front most back insert. Use it as a handle to hold the board in place and it doesn't get in the way of your feet too much when you are up riding.

And boosting off the board is kinda fun

Sometimes I ride so long without falling off that my feet hurt and I need a break. Seems as good an excuse as any

I totally get why people would be into foil jumping, even with the weight of the gear hanging off your feet -- you can get a freaky amount of air for next to no wind

...wonder what it'd be like with a decent blow on...

Kinda surprised I don't remember seeing any foil big air video on here.

You're right, brother. I've yet to see anyone go bigger on a foil. And that cover of Voodoo Child is pretty badass, IMHO.

anyone try using a footstrap without the back screws?

(just an idea...and i have not tried it)

maybe you get just enough friction to keep the board in place....but not have to worry about twisted knees/ankles on wipeouts.

As Peter Frank says some time ago. Hydrofoil is only board where being strapless have no downsizes and its actually no disadvantage or challenge at all. So just do it.

Yes, when the front part of my front V-strap ripped out. If that's what you mean ...

There's no way to keep your foot in it, and the strap gets in your way when you change feet etc.
