But how will you kite with that umbrella now? You mutilated it lol:-)

Nice idea. I have actually had a similar idea for a while. One was a hook on a stick you attach to a anchor or sand bag with line, the other was a small pilot kite with a hook similarly attached to something.

I personally though don't have the need for this type of thing as I can land a million ways.

Ok, here is the situation: You have a narrow beach line, less than 10 meters, beyond that is road, where cars ride from time to time. On the other hand water is filled with algae and weed. And nobody to assist you with landing. How do you land?

And I'd add to the hypothetical that the wind is 25+ knots. I have no trouble self-landing in lighter wind (as shown in the video), but self-landing gets more complicated in higher winds, especially if you don't want to end up with tangled lines. (To the OP, let's see another video of your device in 25+ knots.) :thumb:

Don’t risk the road side, drop kite in water, pull the kite to you by one of the front lines, get onto shore.

^^^LEI thing, unfortunately self-landing a foil kite into water will leave you with a wet mess to dry.
Mess-free drift launch and landing were significant factors for me to switch to LEIs

P.S. OP has a cool idea though

Nice little demonstration. :D Good in a constant wind direction but what about variable?

IMO A stall handle and practice will get you through 99% of tight landing areas.

Sure, at times, You may end up with a rats nest but if you're done for the day and just want to get off the kite it's not really a problem. And again, practice. learning to sort out bridles is a skill everyone flying foils should have. It's not hard with practice.

If your depth reception is bad ; then anchor a small buoy in the water to let Ya
know , where to pull the QR , so the kite lands on the beach and stays dry. Wet
lines ; i can deal with !

Years ago a hammered a short section of rebar in the sand , with PVC plastic
pipe over it, at an angle into the wind , with a small flag on top for depth reception.
I would hook a front-line , on the PVC pipe ; then pull the QR. It worked Great ; till
other kiters told me to get rid of the skewers on the beach , so it wouldn't pop
their LEI's. :(

New to foil kites after 12 years of LEI. Could someone put up a few videos of safe ways to land a foil kite on a super wide, open beach? Specifically what to do if the wind jacks up to unmanageable gusty emergency levels.
This umbrella thing looks like a good option... or there was also something here a few weeks ago constructed from 1/2" pvc plus a sand bag.
In November I will be moving to the Pacific Coast of central Mexico where I kite solo for 5 months on a deserted beach.
In the past I've stuck with Clouds which are silly easy to launch & land solo.
