Duotone is stoked to announce that our TRUE MAGAZINE is now available online. A true representation of the story and driving force behind our brand, it showcases our knowledge and what fuels our passion and progression in the sport, as well as the external influences of art, travel and personal experiences that have and will continue to shape Duotone into the future.

https://www.duotonesports.com/booklet/True_Magazine/

TRUE MAGAZINE is all about creating an understanding and experience far beyond the boards and kites you ride. Our goal is to inspire you!

Here’s a small teaser of what’s behind the front cover.

AOTEAROA - THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME

duotone 2.jpg

Duotone met two passionate kiteboarders from New Zealand, who invited the team to join them in discovering some of the most remote spots in their country. Insights of photographer Toby Bromwich from an extraordinary trip will blow you away.

DARE TO DEVELOP

duotone 3.png

See all of the numerous designs and trademarks Boards & More has developed over the last 18 years. From the 5th Element to the Iron Heart IV, The Track, Airport Valve and of course - the game changing Click Bar, we give you a complete overview of the most important milestones of innovation and development within the sport.

WALKING ON SUNSHINE

duotone 4.png

Young, happy, successful. At the age of only 14, Mikaeli Sol is already double World Champion in Kiteboarding. She is the greatest talent that kiteboarding has seen in a long time. She has this smile - slightly mischievous, carefree, timid - that radiates from deep within. The natural laughter of a teenager who has the world at her feet. Still she just wants to have fun and is here to stay.

MATERIAL WORLD

duotone 5.jpg

Modern kites, boards and bars intelligently combine sustainable natural materials with the latest high tech composites. Our raw materials come from both nature and industry, each bringing its own incredible features.

TETA - TEST AND EVALUATION OF TETHERED AIRFOIL

duotone 6.png

TETA, the world’s first test bench which was specifically developed for validating flexible wings, is operated by the University of Berlin and with Duotone kite designer Ralf Grösel. Showcasing the capabilities of advanced testing technology, future developments will surely benefit from it: ‘The opportunities are great for future developments. Kite design has reached a point where tiny changes in geometry have a huge impact on the overall flight parameters.’ - Ralf Grösel

To be honest, I didn't expect to see that inside a Duotone Magazine, but the interview of Dr Peter Lensker about the inside happiness of kitesurfers on pages 24-28 is actually very good.
Well done!

What an amazing piece of media, people and places are far more interesting than pictures of kite features. It is a shame that they put some focus on new young riders in there and yet their costs of getting into for example wakestyle, which would be super appealing to many youth, are completely prohibitive at just over $10 000 for 3 kites, a board with bindings and a harness. (3 vegas, board bindings and a harness). It was the case that kiteboarding was good because there are no fuel bills / cable fees.. but these investments are unrealistic for almost all potential young riders.

German engineers must be taught that over engineering is BAD...go work with some Japanese Engineers to get some balance, some good engineering going on here though, the test rig looks quality.

I am giving this document an unofficial kiteforum award 2019.

The whole we are north talk sounds so weird. I'll stay with true wingboarding and prepare myself for the 2020 wingoftheair in cape town.

Every time I read True, I think of North kiteboarding and True North.

a few existential questions :

- if Duotone riders do True KiteBoarding , what am I if I ride another brand ? I am a False Kiteboarder / a Fake Kiteboarder / A Fraud ?
- and shit now they've called it on Magazines too ... I am also now a False Reader ... a Fake Reader ...

me only thinks this is kind of lame to call yourself the only one and legit brand in a sport and now in other domains ?
