On what setting do you have your rpm? Is it the one on the end of the wingtip for low bar pressure and fastest turning speed?

dragnfly I think you may be also right. I had the right feeling with the 'smooth' version and I landed it without crash. I have a tendency to move the kite very fast when I initiate the jump and cross 12 pretty much because it gives me better vertical height but also the power seems to be loose quicker when I am just before the apex and during the loop I am not getting the extra height and the kite is not fast enough to come back to the peak.

I also started to try a new way of edging before the jump. I noticed this watching king of the air, for example:

starts at 2:30.
He is edging, then he stops for a sec with micro jump to edge hard and jump. I tried this but for now I am just shot in the air like slingshot and the kite loses all the power very quick so the landing is hard. I have no idea how to steer the kite and bar during this kind of edging.

Its more a freestyle move where you keep your kite at 45 degrees, do an initial pop keeping your kite at 45 degrees and when landing initiate the real jump. I think this creates a lot of slack in your lines to do these freestyle moves but will not help you with your kiteloops. Best is to have a steady high jump and just commit...if your not affraid of the power your half way there

Kitemenn I agree it is for better slack during unhooked tricks. But see how big he goes in this jump. He does not seem to be overpowered. Also you can see the shadow of the kite that is sent back through the zenith and then he lands it with a downloop.

I think you are off with this one. Many pros use this little pre jump for big boosts and I am pretty sure that they initiate the kite movement before doing the pre jump. https://www.instagram.com/p/BzfxiwUnQkW/

Edit: you create slack in your lines with: pop - steer kite a bit up and then steer the kite down (towards the water) = slack. (AFAIK!)

Wait you said freestyle setting, that would mean slow turning and high bar pressure You probably meant it differently but just to be sure, here at 30 seconds in is the setting you are using?

There are two settings for RPM
1. Wakestyle setting - for unhooked tricks.
2. Freesyle setting - for hooked in tricks including kiteloops

For wakestyle setting you attach steering lines on + and center lines on the knots farest to the center (kite will be deeper in the window).
For freestyle setting you attach steering lines on - and center lines on the knots closest from the center.

I use the freestyle setting.

I think I've figured it out today. The mini jump is during preparation of the kite before you send it:
1. Edge with kite at 45 degrees
2. You don't send kite from 45 degrees. It is more like ~55 degrees. Anyway, that is the moment for the mini jump, between 45 and ~55.
3. Land the mini jump and at the same time send it and load & pop.

It requires much practice. I don't know yet how much to send it through the zenith. I did one jump I felt this is it. It was much higher than I usually jump in given wind conditions, and the kite was in the best position for heli loop, so it slowed down my horizontal and vertical speeds. This is a next level of jumping for me. I think this technique may also help for getting enough height for kitelooping.
