what windsurfers?
i'm think that functionally pretty much *all* might kitesurfers now.

We've still two large clubs just up the lake from our kitesurf club, being filled up with university clubs and grumpy middle aged men.

Our club has two large sheds full of windsurf gear that seems to be used by only two retired blokes...everyone else kites. Oh except for the SUP guy, who gave up kiting...he used to ride race boards but when the racers moved to foils, he gave up on it.

They were out there trying to wing SUP foil the other day. Wasn't very successful because the wind was light.

We kite foilers rocked off upwind shaking our heads...just seems like a total waste of effort, especially in our crap "waves".

That is NOT how it is here....

Windsurfers and kitesurfers both rock bigtime, noone "more" than the other part

Doesnt matter if foil or not, both parts are alive and well, here at least

I tried it and it is fun....... A very direct connection to the source of power. The overall experience reminded me of windsurfing without the mast.

I've had an original Kitewing for over a decade I understand the attraction, but what I want is less gear to get in the way. Wings just need too much board and wind for my taste.

I was lucky to get one of these wings that are in short supply. Yesterday was the first day we tried it. Two of my younger friends who have excellent windsurfing skills got up and foiling almost immediately. One of them was foiling through his jibes and working on rodeo riding (where you ride sitting on the board) which is a trick he has never done on his kiting foilboard. He came off the water saying “..so much fun”.
Another friend and I are not so young but we both mastered standing up and got good rides.
I have the Duotone 5.0 wing, the fanatic 96 liter board and a fanatic foil with a 2000 wing.

Was this with the 5.0 wing in the 10 knots at Jericho or was it in the 16-25 knots up at Squamish Chris?

I had the chance to hold a 4.0 wing up in Squamish the other day. It's quite stable when held by the boom but rather ornery when held by the LEI handle.

good stuff!
Still waiting (with popcorn) to see someone going with this setup through any serious shore break.. does not have to be dead on shore wind neither..it's fun enough with a kite and hydrofoil to get some beating.. Now would be nice to see 2 guys (kite and wing) making it through side by side.. I have a feeling the wing will not make it any easier...
