Anyone have knowledge on hydrofoiling in Los Barriles?
Specifically swell riding. La Ventana seems to be shielded from swell and with higher winds.
And is Buena Vista any good for foiling?
Any info appreciated

My friends and I go to Los Barriles every year for a few weeks of great for foiling. When the wind is strong the swell is even better than at La Ventana.
I highly recommend it. I use everything from my 5m to my 12m kite.
Los Barriles and La Ventana offer roughly similar vacations but Los Barriles is a bigger town and if you stay near the center you can walk everywhere like restaurants. We don't even rent a car there.
Buena Vista is just south of Los Barriles and often doesn't get quite as much wind ..and the direction is more onshore so is less desirable.

Thanks for responses
Foiling has led me to radically rethink kite locations. And I think Los Barriles May indeed resurface as a front runner

same.
i spent time in la ventana this winter.... in spite of the cold water i loved it for foiling.
the plan is to check out los barriles this next winter. (being MUCH closer to airport is a huge benefit)

I second Los Barriles for foiling. I go there pretty much every year around Christmas. I like it better than La Ventana although I only spent one day at LV. The beach in LB is better, less rocks, swell seems to get bigger and tends to be less crowded at preferred parts of the beach than LV. LV might have better parties though ...

The amount of rocks on the shoreline varies. If there's a lot of rain in the summer monsoon season and the arroyos wash out, there will be good beaches, but as the months of the windy season progress, the sand is slowly eroded away. Sometimes there's a beach, sometimes it's rocky. More sand south end of town, usually more rocky up near the campground north part of town.

how are the beach/launches the north part of town or in buenos aires?
(and are there areas to avoid?)
