OMG ....Im sooo scared of the rangers!!! help help!!!
They do their job and enforce law. If I’m not mistaken some of OBX rangers kite too. It’s not necessary to fear, mock or despise them - they’ll be amongst the first ones to help people in trouble and save some unlucky ass.
I say “thank you for your service”

Interesting, self-focused reaction. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that you're joking.
What we all should be "scared of", or at least cognizant of, is potential loss of access to other kiting locations along the island. If kiters decide to ignore the existing regulations in Pea Island, the chances of additional kiting restrictions increase. We really don't want that.
SendIt! is correct about the Pea Island restriction. Kiteboarding in Pea Island (on water and on land) is prohibited. As a practical matter, the restriction only gets enforced when the kiter hits land. But I know of instances when Park Service officials have spotted a kiter on the water and waited until he/she landed to deliver a citation. We used to ride in Pea Island all the time (Rodanthe to New Inlet downwinders), but then the no-kiting restriction was put into place. That part of the island is definitely off limits now.

Was it Dimitri who ended with the kite in power lines and restriction followed?

I don't think so, but I'm not certain. It's a shame cause New Inlet was the best downwinder on the island. Still plenty of good spots though.
I saw the construction on this bridge when I was there a couple of months ago. It will definitely be an eye sore for residents on the sound side in that neighborhood.
It’s a shame to see them spend so much money on bridges when the entire island chain will be underwater in 20years. They should spend the money on climate change mitigation and renewable energy. OBX should have off shore wind turbines. They could power the entire state of North Carolina with just a couple of decent sized wind farms, and cheaper than burning for fossil fuels.
It seems I could have rented a house in Mirlo Beach this June and in fall too. They're moving slow and only Pappy lane is impacted the worst so far. Even Banzai Landing is still ok.
But I saw prices of other place south of Rodanthe went up. Must have happened to keep the balance in nature.
Goodbye, dear Rodanthe
