...The below the bar is completely new and resembles nothing of previous Fireball QR or reassembly. It also is completely tool less. It also allows completely independent spinning of the front lines, security line, and leash - also unique. So I would say it's a pretty big innovation and there's nothing complicated about it. I would love your feedback when you get to see and try one. Take care.
I do like the concept and the look of all the modular parts!
Just one question - what happens to the freestyle loop when you for whatever reason may need to activate the QR?!
Provided the safety leash is connected to the metal ring and the loop has no donkey dick, should I make sure I have my other hand on the loop or just order few of these in advance and have a spare one attached to my harness?!

So with the new kite ripstop material...does this make this 2020 kites heavier than the 2019's?
I believe the weight goes up by 1 to 3 grams per square meter of canopy material. However, you can offset this massive increase in weight by farting into the bladders. (methane is lighter than air)

Actually, because of how strong the Nano Ripstop is, we removed some of the heavy dacron from the wingtips, to the kites are lighter overall. The farting in the bladders is just additional bonus now.

Now seriously - neither the plasma treatment, nor the smaller ripstop pattern adds any weight:
1. Plasma treatment (similarly to corona, but better) only changes the surface tension, i.e. wettability, i.e. adhesion properties. The coating sticks better and for longer.
2. Ripstop pattern does not affect the number of fillaments per inch/cm in any (weft or warp) direction. All fillaments are identically thick, it is the weaving pattern that creates the 'thicker' ripstop lines in a kite canopy fabric. 'Real' ripstop fabrics do exist of course, but require different weaving looms and are therefore more expensive.

'Nano' just sounds cool for marketing. Everything that hapens a on a molecular level can be called nano.
And +/- 1-3 grams per sq.m (<5%) is totally within the acceptable tolearances of any coated fabric.

Great question! You don't have to do either. You can simply thread your leash through the loop prior to connecting to the metal leash bit. This way the loop stays with you in the unlikely event that you use your QR as you are doing unhooked freestyle, and the leash keeps attached to the kite via the security line after the QR is activated. Let me know if this is clear or if you want a photo.

Is the 2019 Cabrinha bar able to accept the new 2020 lower section so these new connections can be used?

I suppose through purchasing of spare parts one could take a 2017-2019 control system and remove the bits below the spinning handle to be replaced by modular 2020 bits.
