Lighter Moses fuselage

Postby austroKiter » Sat Aug 31, 2019 6:56 am

Hi,

has anyone modified their Moses fuselage to make it lighter?
Or is there any other fuselage that would be compatible that is lighter than the original Moses one?

Why do you need it to be lighter?

I posted this in the Moses thread earlier this year. Jim Stringfellow makes a modified fuselage intended for kite foiling the Onda 633 wing (not surfing). It weighs 717 grams versus the original 633/483 fuselage weight of 896 grams. This modified fuselage also moves the mast closer to the wing since many kite foil board tracks are not far enough aft to allow stock mounting of the Moses rig (people were either making new mount holes or shimming the rear stabilizer).

I have a 120cm Grove Skate and although the original fuselage works without mods, the new fuselage allows me the mount the plate farther forward on the tracks. Been kite foiling it all season with the 633/483 combo, and it has been great. Quality as good as the original with plenty of shallow water groundings to vouch for the strength. Not sure I would use it for SUP/surfing applications, but it was never intended for that. Paid around $280 USD for it direct from Jim. Stringfellow is a super stand-up guy.

I adapted Onda to the race foil carbon KFA mast and fuselage and works great for me

Why do you need it to be lighter?
Because the weight is too damn high.
