I wear my 2017 RideEngine Large without any issues. Love the new 2018 RideEngine Medium size harness with hook bar 8 inches, but I am not able to wear more than ½ hour, It's hurting my side. Seem harness have more pad on the side then 2017, could it be an issue?
My waist is 33” and not sure why my 2017 large do not hurt, but that 2018 medium sucks to wear.
My questions:
Anyone experience same issues? Should I change my hook bar to 10”?
Thanks for help.

For the little I understand a M size is smaller than a L size.Could be that the reason ?

if spreader bar is smaller then thats it. Spreader bar must fit you.

+1
I was thinking the same thing. The large harness had more wrap, thus more padding wrapping around sides. It may have also offered you a bit more side support due to the harness's profile being slightly bigger.
Or as suggested, the s-bar could be too small for the medium harness, which would cause more harness pinch.

8 inch spreader bar only work for S and XS, Medium size should be a 10 or 12 inch bar.
It in is hurting on your back/side, then it is the smaller size of the harness, if it is hurting on your front/side, then it is most likelly your preader bar.

Ideally you want the biggest spreader bar possible, so that it doesn't move up as much. If you can order the 12 aswell it would be worth a comparison. If the 12 sits very snug with little extra room on the sides it might be a winner, assuming you tested it in wet conditions.

No need, I have a 10 and a 12 bar for my 2017 Elite harness, 12 just doesnt work, had to stick with the 10
