package good for beginner?

Hi guys,

What do you think about this package for learning? Is the surf foil OK for kite foiling?
It is advertised as a package for good for learning that you will not outgrow easily. I'm 81 kg.

2019 Slingshot Hover Glide FSurf Foil and 4'6" Dwarfcraft:
- Infinity 76 wing
- 24” mast

Big wing though, isn't it? And a bunch of guys here learned on that board. IMO if it's as big as your TT you're fine.

I'd go for a longer mast unless your spot is really shallow, but I guess you can pick those up later. I don't remember them being expensive...

I'd recommend a set with 28" mast as 24" is good for learning but will feel a bit short after you're up and riding.

Infinity 76 is good for learning/lightwind/waveriding but for your weight you’d want a smaller wing too. Something around 1000 sq.cm. - H1(TimeCode68)/H2(Gamma68)/Apollo60 wings would be great beginner wings too for your weight. Even H5 (Time Code 57) would do well (but H5 would be not as lightwindish wing as those above)

My first priority is to learn how to foil, so I guess Infinity 76 + Dwarfcraft 4'6" would work for me. I was afraid that the foil is way too big for me because it's a surf wing and that the board is too small for beginners.

What would be a good wind speed to learn for my weight (81 kg)? I have 10m and 12m Swichblade kites. Around 12-15 knots? I'm also planning to get a shorter mast to speed the learning process.

To learn foiling you’d need good wind (not light wind) so anywhere close to 15 knots should be good. I suggest you take the 10m to learn with because faster kite is preferable for foiling.

How would you know if you are too overpowered on a foil as a beginner? I'm wondering when would be to windy for me with the setup from my question, in case the wind picks up while I'm in the water.

When foiling you need very little power to keep going, especially with anything as large as i76 wing. Don’t take any bigger kite than you’d take for a twintip session for conditions.
If you’re fully trimmed in but it’s feels too much - you’re way overpowered and need smaller kite.
Switchblades are good kites and depower well so that 10n would work for your foiling in a range 8-18knots
