Wave spot for hydrofoil....

Postby philemonfilou » Sun Sep 29, 2019 10:18 am

Hi everybody
According to your travels, experiences....can you help me to find some spot where i can find some wave for practising surf kite but with a foil!!
and in july or august...
i need to have at least 1.5m deep water where we can ride the wave... :o
wave from 1 to 2 or 3 meters,no rocks, safe place, sand below, warm water...(i know i dream... :jump:  )
as very few people surf with foil now, it is not so easy to have this kind of informations...
Any idea for such a spot will be good
Thanks for your answer and have some nice ride
Philippe from France...

On the reef at Cabarete Bay. Easiest place to practice foiling in the waves because if you get in trouble you can just head toward the beach and kite into the lagoon with no waves.

Oops, didn’t notice this question was almost three months old. Still, if someone else has the same question, now there’s at least one answer.

and that 1.5m requirement may be a dealbreaker no matter where you go...
cabarete is a reef break... and i can tell you from experience learning will involve some pain and beat up wings.
and like every reef break on the planet dont expect the depths at the breaks to be more than a meter (at high tide)

if you want overhead waves...over deep(er) water (over sand) then you will will be chasing swell...
it is not that difficult..
look for areas downwind of major storms(with plenty of room for waves to develop)

right now surf should be (WAY) up from france/portugal down thru morroco if you had a death wish.

all that said, check out baja california .. nice perfect predictable waves..

Kalpitiya, Sri Lanka has got some nice waves for kite and foil. Light wave with a nice period. Check Kudawa beach for it
