Rear wing suggestions for Ketos WaveXL

Postby Tony » Fri Oct 04, 2019 12:01 am

I have the Karver and 1200V2 Kool now.
Want to get the WaveXL, should I get another rear wing or just use the Karver?
I realize I could just try and then go from there but being in the USA buying Ketos is a bit more involved and would prefer to make one purchase.
Actually considering addition of the fuse as well so I have a second full wingset.
Thanks
Tony

I have the 1200 and the small freeride stab. That stab would compliment the wave xl too, maybe even allowing more speed than the karver.
If you get in touch with ketos via their website, they give good advice!

You will not regret the WaveXL wing.

I ride the SFR rear wing almost exclusively. I can’t compare it to the Karver.

I also bought G10 and XS rear wings used from Ketos. It’s interesting to change but in reality I change the big wing more.

I think 4liner (user) has a g10 stab he listed for sale in US if you want something looser.

Love my Wave XL with XS stab!
Although felt to "loose" at the beginning, just tried a (S) stab, small, and felt way to "stiff".
I find myself doing fast tight linked turns XS stab allows this with ease.
Kinda like a TT with no fins at all, for sure my still only choice for flat water, loose, great.
Simply can not ride a TT with fins, feels way to "stiff"!
To each his own, but once one gets used to a nimble set up seems hard to go back, at least for free ride.

Thanks for the responses.

The Karver specs are 370-280.
The SFR is 360-270, which seems really close to the Karver but maybe there's more to it than that?
What is the XS? Is the S2 what is being called the XS? The S2 is 400-245 which is wider but less surface area.
The G10 at 350-233 is smallest of all of them.

When I first jumped on the 1200V2/Karver it seemed super loose to me relative to what I was on before but I immediately adapted. It was also much less pitch sensitive (good thing).

If I'm looking for a second stab, is the SFR too close to the Karver? Would the S2 be the right choice?

I did email Blandine at Ketos but have not heard back.

Yes, the SFR is too close to the Karver.

Go for the S2 which is a great allround (smallish) size 245 cm2.

I got a 233 cm2 as my big stab, and a 175 cm2 as my small stab.

Usually I use my big stab with my WaveXL 790 cm2, as this wing turns so fast that I like the "drive" from a tad bigger stab.

Whereas with the Kool 1200 cm2 wing I use the smallest stab, so it gets fun and lively despite of the big wing.

Maybe quite opposite to what others do, but it works perfectly for me, balance on both wings :thumb:

What is the area of the (discontinued) XS?

210-215 cm2 maybe?

A good size for both wings indeed :D

Mine reads KR 320-180. I believe is Span-Area.

Thanks, 180 cm2 is supersmall, which I like a lot too especially with bigger wings the small stabs works wonders
