Hi all , I'm new to Hydrofoiling but have kited for 15 years.
I'm loving the new challenge and was wandering what size is the smallest kite you have used whilst Hydrofoiling and in what wind speed .
Cheers Guys

3.5 BRM Cloud in 25 knots and up. With a foil fish and my 185 lbs. Super fun.

My smallest kite is a 6m Best Cabo, it is also my most-used kite for foiling. It works from about 15 knots, and by 25 knots I'm over-powered. I'm 150 pounds and pretty new to hydrofoiling. If I had a smaller kite, I'd use it, but probably not a whole lot (at my current skill-level, I'd rather grab a surfboard for heavy winds). I think for starting out on a foil, stick with your current quiver until you decide what you like. I've foiled with BRM clouds, Best Cabos (surf kites), and Best TS (hybrid C), and I still havent yet decided which I prefer for foiling, they all have their merits.

I had a 5m2 wavekite as my smallest (also a 6 and 7 and 8 and 9m2 Furia), which is used up to around 20 knots then it is overpowered in waves with my 77kg.
Can ride, but not fun when too big and you carve down the faces, so riding a surfboard with a 7m2 is more fun even in bad conditions.
Have bought a 3.5m2 Takoon LOG now, so looking forward to be able to ride hydrofoil in good waves from now on
Peter

Reviving this thread but the only relevant one I could find.
Looking for a small LEI kite for the foil, something smaller than my 5m 3 strut wave. What kites do you like? Probably 3.5m or 4m.
Won't get a lot of use but ... there are days.

4 mtr Ozone Uno works well for me on a 1000 sqcm wing at 80 kg in anything over 16 knots.

For LEI, look at BRM Clouds.
Also consider Peak 4 in 3 meter. Amazing kite.
Didn’t you have Conceptair Wave kites at one point?

A small cloud may be an option, just tough to come by as I'd want lightly used.
I had the CA Wave for a bit, great kite and would be perfect except not a good match for my launches. Have not 100% ruled out going there again.

I love my 4m SST. It’s the fastest kite I have ever flown. I use it in 17kn to 20kn.
I also have a 3m Switch Element that I use in 21kn+. The jury is still out, but, so far, I don’t like it. It’s slower than my 4m and it doesn’t provide any lift at all at apex.
