Kiting Trip to Taipei

Postby stoffl » Fri Oct 18, 2019 8:02 am

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to go to Taipei next week, Oct 23rd - Oct 27th 2019. Is there anyone around who is there around that time or has some info on Kiting there?

I have read that there aren't any established shops so I'm wondering how launching/landing would work (self launch/land?) given that I'm travelling alone. I've got my gear, 10 and 15 Edge so rental won't be an issue, even though the winds look like they'll be on the higher spectrum of what my 10 Edge is meant to handle :)

I'm thankful for every bit of advise

with robust clean winds(in season), tropical climate(on half the island), relative lack of westernern tourists(pushing prices up) and friendly beautiful people(imo only korean chicks are hotter on that side of planet), and cheap eating with awesome nightlife.....taiwan SHOULD be a major kite surfing destination.

the biggest problem imo is pollution...
the obvious (a national past-time seems to be dumping garbage in water) and the not so obvious (the potential kite beach..has "radioactive" qualities)

that said..
i'd message a local shop for info/supplies...

Karen Hou is a local kitesurfer and rocks the Woo leaderboard. She runs a B&B / kite lodge on Penghu called "Sunrise B&B" ... highly recommended.
