What does everyone use for a band for an Apple Watch while kiting? I'm a little concerned I'm going to lose it and my wife will in turn kill me (anniversary gift). I bought the UAG band based on Surfline's recommendation, it was fine in surf the other day, but today when I was body dragging through some surf getting out with my foil, it loosened up and I thought i was going to lose it.
I like the tracking, etc. but I'd rather not have an angry wife.

I use a cheapo silicone watch band with a rubber o-ring over the pin. The band is similar to the standard band.
I used to have a velcro band but the velcro catches on the wetsuit fabric and peels open. The nylon stays wet and gets stained.
I tried a Catalyst waterproof case. They say it's waterproof but it's not. I got sick of opening up the case to rinse and dry the watch.

I’ve surfed and kited hard for two years with my black Nike sport band (the one the watch came with) and have never had an issue. Maybe it looks like it shouldn’t work, but it does.

The pin on my band came out of the hole and the band opened a bit. It was under my wetsuit so it didn't open all the way. I put a doubled over o-ring on it and it has been secure ever since.

I also use the same Nike one but I am hesitant to use it over my wetsuit. I think it is essential that you have enough band after the closed part to keep everything tight.
Eg I do not think it would work if you would use the last hole for the widest setting to click in to.

I have a spigen armour case for AW4/5, it's not waterproof, but it definitely will keep the watch on my wrist. Also not expensive.
And as I only use it for kitesurfing, I'm forcing myself this way to clean the watch every time before switching back to my daily watch band.
But I keep it under my wetsuit, because I like to measure my heart rate too. And I simply don't trust the waterproofness with kite speeds.
Even though there are people who have tested it thoroughly here on KF.

I did, but if you notice almost everyone has it on under their wetsuit. I'm kiting mostly not in a wetsuit.

I use the rip zip type one and on a decent fall it does loosen up. Being careful.
