I have enough materials to make a version 2. What about the following refinements: Just 1x200g glass, with 15mm of the top deck routed out around the nose and replaced with some kind of foam eg bonocell.

OK - built and tested this idea and it has some merits. The board is something like 109 x 47cm with ~7cm rocker. The build was maybe a bit too much work in the end, as my routing skills are not good and I had to fix a lot of mistakes. I routed out the deck but did not cut out the shape; this left enough material around the nose to set the rocker by kerfing. But in the end I think I could have just done it without kerfing and set the rocker with one layer of glass on the base and bending with weights.

Detail: 40g/m2 foam, several patches 200g 10-20cm wide down the middle on both sides plus a scrap of 200g uni carbon to finish, plus one layer of 100g glass over the whole board, and a second layer over the foam area. Final weight without pads 2.6kg which I think is OK for a hand layup. I did use peel ply though - which was very nice and definitely removed an amount of excess resin. Wrapping rails still seems tricky to me, despite the very light cloth.

Ride: this clearly nose-light, which in principle is a good thing while riding, but takes a little bit of getting used to when handling in the water. When it lies on its side it sits very nose up. Generally, it seems to work fine the two of times I tried it so far.

One on the right is hollow.

Mid and left is solid Paulownia. Left one is wrapped in light FG. Mid one is not finished yet. Made in Perth by my buddy from www.bodhitreesurf.com.au

I think someone in Cape Town in making bigger batches.

Made my second board 120*43.5*2.7. Airex, carbon weight 2083g. Inserts for both legs. Rides very good. Stif as Rock
I am trying to make a table similar to yours.
I suppose you used AIREX® C 70.75 but what thickness ?, and below AIREX, to generate the rocket did you hit white FOAM? What thickness of FOAM did you use? I do not understand if you finally took off the white FOAM, because to reach a final thickness of 2.7 cm .... I am amazed

You also used carbon fiber, but how many layers? and what carbon fiber? 160 gr / m2, 200 gr / m2.

great job

Thanks for your time

Carbon fiber 240g/m2.

I Didnt heat the foam. Just aplied cf and airex to one side, put it in vacuum bag, then lay it on table with weight over deck and tube over nose. Let it cure

Stunning boards guys. I'm a bit embarrassed to upload my shitty quickly slapped together pocket board. But here it is.

I also challenge all you board builders to keep building down from the board to the mast, and fuse and wings!
Yes, make yourself a foil to go with your board.

You have the skill!

Do it!
