Did you set the bitrate to high Rogue?

I'm assuming that would be part of the difference in stills from video quality from the 7 with a non adjustable rate.

No, Here are the settings I used:

1080/60
Lens-wide
hypersmooth-high
low light-off
zoom-1.0

bit rate-low
shutter-auto
ev comp-0
white balance-auto
iso min-100
iso max-1600
sharpness-high
color-gopro

No. The GoPro 8 does not have horizon levelling.

Yeah, I read that. But it does have leveling in the editing software - post shooting. Wondering if this works well and is user friendly?
It won't be able to do it properly for full rotations. At least not in 1080p. Maybe in 720. But for 1080 it would need an 5.7k capable sensor , and GoPro did not upgrade the internals on the Go Pro 8. It still has the same hardware as the 7.

Just tried in-app horizon leveling with version 1.20 firmware - full rotation works amazingly with 4K/60

Does that work with a line mount? Do you have a sample video, that sounds amazing.

Unfortunately, no wind for now :( , so just did “in hands” test...

Original footage:

After applying leveling (absolutely no manual adjustments - just pushed one button) :

I was impressed as well. Hope to get the same on real footage. Unfortunately the forecast isn’t showing any wind for whole week :( Hopefully someone else can make a video sooner...

I used the standard Gopro app on iPad

yeah...

the auto leveling is impressive..

but that resolution limit (lack of 4-5k) may end up being the dealbreaker on the gopro max for me.
(will...PROBABLY end up returning it)

It’s Hero 8 Black, not Max
