From which jumping height the heliloop is mandatory?

Pretty straight forward question. As I can see, is impossible to land a really big jump without a heliloop. But from which height it becomes really mandatory? 10m?

it depends. You can always slow down your megaloop so that it finishes exactly when you touch water. The problem is what if you are off by a meter. So you tighten up your megaloop so it finishes quicker and then you need to finish with a heliloop. You could be 30 meters in the air and have the widest deepest most horizontal megaloop ever, but then maybe you crash if it doesn't finish in time. That's why you pull a little bit harder than you think you have to, so you are sure it finishes. So it's one of those "it depends" things there's no height that it becomes mandatory at. Also you can just move your kite back and forth in an S the whole way down if you like. There's no special rules that make a loop mandatory all what you want to do.

Well my experience finish in 15 m and is not mandatory so far, when uber almost landing u can always redirect ur kitw forward and land with more horizontal than vertical speed (at least until 16m) on my experience

Seems like it would be more important with a smaller kite. Not enough cloth/torque/lift to land without a heliloop as it gives you a longer pull.

I use heliloops mainly to slow my forward speed down. I tend to ride with more speed and tend to jump with more forward pull then vertical lift. The heliloop works great for slowing down and saving you from very fast and hot landings.

My view: It’s not so much jump height than it is wind speed/strength, or at least a combination of the two, i.e. the stronger the wind, the higher you jump. Problem is with really strong wind when you re-direct, the kite is in the power zone as you land and you get yanked fast downwind and usually crash. Or you try to not re-direct into the power zone, so more to the side so there's less pull, but you are traveling downwind so when you land the kite pulls you at the wrong angle and you crash. With heli/landing loop the kite is above you during and after the landing, providing very little pull, but giving you lift for a soft landing. Some guys learn to land high jumps in strong wind without landing loop but they will always crash every now and then. Once you learn the heli/landing loop you can always reliably land any jump from any height in any wind, and you will never want to do a redirect landing again. It is really a technique you have to learn if you want no restrictions on your boosting.
