Slingshot Monofoil

Postby PugetSoundKiter » Sun Nov 10, 2019 6:54 am

Have enjoyed the Monofoil or "riding stabless", setup and riding posts. I wanted to find out what people thought of modifying Slingshot foils to Short Fuselage (SF) and/or Monofoil Fuselage (MF) setups? Modifications could be as easy as just cutting, drilling & tapping and filing of some extra fuselages. I have sketched up some SF & MF pictures below with the mast in “A” and the mast in “B” positions of the Slingshot Switch Fuselage (SSF).

- Picture A1 = Slingshot Switch Fuselage in the A-Position (SSF-A)
- Picture A2 = Short Fuselage in the A-Position (SF-A)
- Picture A3 = Monofoil Fuselage in the A-Position (MF-A)
- Picture B1 = Slingshot Switch Fuselage in the B-Position (SSF-B)
- Picture B2 = Short Fuselage in the B-Position (SF-B)
- Picture B3 = Monofoil Fuselage in the B-Position (MF-B)

A few questions:

1. Slingshot has many wings, what wings do you think might work best for the Short Fuselage (SF) and for the Monofoil Fuselage (MF), and why?

2. What mast/fuselage position (A or B) do you think might work best for the Short Fuselage (SF) and/or for the Monofoil Fuselage (MF)?

3. Do you agree that learning with a short Slingshot 24”/61cm then a 28”/71cm before going to the 35.5/90cm mast would be a good plan?

4. If learning with Slingshot dwarfcraft 4’6” would starting with the pedestal all the way back be best?

Tried it with mast through the wing and wasn’t impressed.
Riding without stabilizer is quite...what’s the word...”unstable” (shocker, I know)

Thanks, that was what I was wondering.
Maybe a short fuselage and/or a smaller stabilizer will be my next challenge.
