The peak 8m works fine on 8-12 knot days. Floats in the lulls way better than my soul 10m, turns faster, and drifts downwind better. It's way cheaper than the soul. Quicker to launch and land. Doesn't go upwind anything like a soul. Much more likely I can drag back to shore on the peak if the wind dies. Easier to roll up in the water if the wind disappears completely. It's definitely not as fast and fun as the 5m peak, and doesn't hold structure as well, but then I'd rather be using my peak 3m for the same reasons.

Comparing Peak4 to Soul is challenging as they are so different. However the best use of the Peak4 is with a surf foil and surfing waves, swell or wind chop at any angle. The drift of the Peak4 makes it possible to go downwind without the kite falling, depowered and still retaining steering control, surfing with the foil without using the kite. While the Soul is better than an LEI kite downwind it can't match the Peak4 and it can generate far more speed & power than you need if your trying to surf waves, swell or chop. The Peak4 is also faster to turn than the Soul as a result of the light weight & lower aspect.

However I have used the Peak4 very successfully on a TT and surfboard as well as a faster hydrofoil wing but many other kites will perform better in these disciplines with the Soul excelling with a fast wing. But nothing can match the Peak4 with a surf foil for sheer fun.

Given the low cost of the Peak4 and considering you can use it with any 4 line bar, just buy one and try it for yourself. While I have given other kiters a go on my Soul and had positive feedback, especially the fact that it's easy to use and performs well, the feedback from kiters who have used my Peak4 has been surprising. Comments like gamechanger show just how different this kite is. The best kites are probably the 3,4 and 5m sizes but depending on your weight and conditions the 8m and 11m could suit. Once you try the Peak4 you'll know why this thread exists.

What's Peak4 5m comfortable low end range ie. not overly working the kite for Onda 633 (with pocket board) for 80kg person with good skills, please? Would 14-15 knots avg. with gusts to 16-17 knots be doable with that combo, or how low can you go without overly working the kite?

Thanks!

You would be perfect in 14-15 knots with 5 meters

I'm using the 5m for my light wind kite because I know I won't be swimming in when the wind drops below 10 kts. I'm 68 kg and I use 27 and 30m lines with a medium size wing and I can ride in 10 kts when my friends are on 12m kites with a foil.

Yep, it's like having a 8m LEI that doesn't backstall in the lulls.

I don't think that FS will do Peak5 for foiling officialy, in such case all will buy massively cheap Peaks and no looks at Soul2. As Soul2 much more expensive they definitely make it possitioning as foil kite to make more profits. Even as with smaller peak you get more speed than with Double sking foil. Or... They will rise Peak5 prices and add foiling word :) its nothing personal just buisness :) And they will do with Sonic3, vmg, sonic races series if they also devoted to foiling too, to much overlaping happening in between.

Hard and serious working companies sometimes releasing products which they wasn't officialy possitioned for such better using propuses:) For example FS suddent success with Peak4 for foiling, Sonic series planned only for race but ended for all kiting cases, and best for jumps :) Moses with surf wing Onda which is much better for kiting and got super top wing all around :)

Has anyone compared the Cloud and Peak 4?
Wind range 16+ knots, 80 kg on an 1100 wing chasing wind swell. Love the 6.2 Cloud but they are hard to get outside the US, need something smaller, either the 3 or 4 mtr Peak4 maybe.
