tell us more. What conditions do you like it in and are you able to go a kite size down with this wing?

We have wind where I live. So I mostly use it to practice footwork in flattish water. I enjoy riding it in smaller waves as I can feel the the wave and go slow enough to ride it. Over 2-3 foot and I choose a wing marketed for waves.

I’m not sure you can downsize kite over 10 knots as the limit for me is hauling my self out of the water. But upwind angles are definitely better on the same size kite even if at a slower speed than a small wing.

Then there is the potential for enjoying the beauty of peaceful cruising around in light wind. We don’t get a lot of that but I was amazed by our recent conditions.

In such wind efficiency is key to unlocking appearance winds for the kite. The kite is a 13 Chrono V3 on 40m.

40m lines seems unusual. Do you prefer this to standard 20m or 25m lines?

No. But it was needed this day and I prefer it to no riding.

It was my light wind lineset (just under 30m) placed as extensions on my short lines bar.

Awesome picture Jake :thumb:

Even being 1100 cm2 and smaller than the 1200 cm2 low AR surf wing, it has around 15 % more lift than the 1200 is my calculated estimate (if profile is the same, I dont know eventhough I have and use both)

Can go in extremely low wind at high angles as said, but you can also rig down kitesizes when out on this wing in over 10 knots, which you asked about slowboat.

Have tried it now and then, eventhough I mostly use it in low winds and when 9 knots and up, the KOOL1200 or WaveXL wings.

Sometimes the Kruiser with a 10 m2 LEI on 30 m lines in 7-8 knots on a smallish board (lower limit with a 10 m2 LEI for me at 77 kg), fun simply because it is possible and having an agile kite :naughty:

on the ketos web site the LightWind Kruiser is for Level : intermediate to expert.
does any one know what stops this from being a beginners wing?

I think Ketos philosophy is to underpromise and over-deliver but they do give good advise. It's a forgiving wing and I think is a very nice wing to practice jibes and flying foot-switches.

It takes time to get the skill to approach light winds. I think it would be unreasonable to imagine success in very light winds until some basics are mastered in medium winds.

If we have 10 knots wind I almost always use Wave XL and I would want 12-15 knots for beginner starts.

I got both of these, as my two big wings.

Using both quite some also, on different occasions/days - but of course a super luxury thing as they are pretty "close".

The 1200 is awesome for riding waves or just having fun in light wind, when sufficient wind, can turn on a dime, start early and really easy and forgiving.

The Kruiser (1100 cm2 higher aspect) can start even earlier than the 1200, and it goes far better upwind, so for marginal winds or for cruising on long distance trips in light wind, it is great :thumb:

Sometimes I use the 1200 in more wind too, but the Kruiser I use mostly in really light or marginal wind - which happens quite often though.

And it can happen, I am out on say my 800 cm2 medium wing with a smaller kite, the wind drops a bit, or there is less power out on the water than I expected, and instead of rigging a bigger kite, I put the Kruiser wing on and can ride

The Kruiser is extremely roll stable, so for practicing jibes and tacks is perfect.
